5 Mediterranean Music Festivals You Don't Want to Miss

Taking in the local culture and chill out to some summer tunes in the Mediterranean climate: blissful. Here are some festivals that you might not know about – but will want to put on your music bucket list, pronto!

1. Arenal Sound, Spain

Big headliners? Check. A picturesque setting? Check. Sunshine for days? Check. When it comes to huge summer parties, Arenal Sound calls the shots – and this year’s week-long festival is no exception. In between partying to a huge line-up which includes drum ‘n’ bass powerhouse Rudimental and thrashing three-piece The Subways, you can soak up the sunshine on the beach just a short stride away. The organisers have some very exciting surprises up their sleeves to celebrate the festival’s 5th anniversary this year, too, so you’d be a fool to miss it.

2. Rockwave Festival, Greece

The Prodigy, Judas Priest, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Manu Chao La Ventura

Why should I go?

Known as the biggest festival in Greece, this year included performances from The Black Keys, The Prodigy, Robbie Williams, and Judas Priest. Situated in the historic lands surrounding Athens (Attica), you’re just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the big city itself. Never will it be easier to combine your two loves: rock music and ancient Greek architecture.

3. Benicassim, Spain

Now in its 20th year, Benicassim is a sun-drenched heaven on earth for fans of the best in current pop, alternative, rock and dance music. By day, sip European wine on the beach, and by night, dance the night away.

4. Electric Elephant, Croatia

Why should I go?

Situated near to a beautiful fishing village and known for its amazing boat parties, Electric Elephant really is the perfect music festival for anyone who loves Croatian culture and Electronica music. Party by night, but get away from the festival madness by day - try some of the local cuisine, or explore the stunning, natural scenery. You really can have the best of both worlds.

5. Croatia Rocks

Why should I go?

It’s becoming a well-known secret that Croatia is the newest European holiday hotspot, and to solidify that, the organisers of Ibiza Rocks are launching Croatia Rocks in 2015. If you consider yourself a pop and dance fan through and through, Croatia Rocks is bound to suit your musical tastes.
