1/ Sarakiniko Beach: One of the area’s most tranquil and beautiful beaches, Sarakiniko is the perfect spot to while away the hours under the sun as you gaze out at the crystal clear waters. The easiest way to access the beach is by catching a water taxi from Parga’s harbor and enjoying a brief 40 minute journey along the coast, drinking in the scenery as you go.
2/ The Monasteries of Meteora: These stunning old buildings are perched high upon rock formations and are a unique sight that aren’t to be missed. Just a short drive outside of Parga, the six Greek Orthadox monasteries themselves are visually breathtaking, and the serene surroundings make for a truly special experience. Dating back to the 15th century, they remain one of Greece’s most important religious locales and are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
3/ Butrint Archeological Site in Albania: Another perfect day trip from Parga can be found at another UNESCO World Heritage Site in Butrint, Albania. This archeological site presents an intriguing snapshot of Mediterranean history, with elements of ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ventian civilizations combining to create a unique historical experience.
4/ Cruise over to: For beach lovers looking for a relaxing day out, you need look no further than the peaceful surroundings of Paxos and its sister island Antipaxos. The aqua coloured waters are perfect for swimmers as well as anyone seeking a spot of snorkeling. Take a boat cruise over to the islands and spend the day soaking in the sun on the beach or taking in the islands endless olive groves and quaint fishing ports.
5/ A Day Out At Gliki: Take the short 30 minute drive from Parga through beautiful countryside and visit nearby Gliki. There you will find the stunning Acheron River which is the perfect accompaniment to a countryside walk as well as offering the perfect excuse for a quick swim to cool down. You can also visit the river’s eye-catching gorge and, for the more adventurous amongst you, rafting and kayaking on the river is also available.
