Our opinion: A charming, good value option for family fun in a beautiful location.
The Cala Gran Costa Del Sur Complex occupies a prime location 100 metres from beautiful Cala Gran Beach and a short stroll to the centre of the resort. A pleasant hotel surrounded by beautifully kept gardens, rooms here are comfortably furnished, most of them with views of the attractive fresh water swimming pool in the centre of the grounds.
The hotel is popular with families for its choice of entertainment for everyone. Very young children have their own activities programme, a Kid's club and a playground for independent fun. Older children and adults can thrash it out on the table tennis table, or test their bounce at beach volleyball. Squash, tennis, pool and rifle shooting provide some popular alternatives for active fun. A choice of three pools cater for the desire to cool off with a dip before stretching out in the sun, and plenty of loungers, parasols and space on the terraces around fulfil it. The pool bar offers a snack lunch, and coffee and cake in the afternoon. After dinner, it's a lovely spot for an aperitif or nightcap in the soft sea air.
On days out, the town of Cala D'Or has much to offer in the way of shops, restaurants and bars - a buzzing atmosphere without the frenzy of some other Spanish hotspots, and the area is littered with delightful little coves and bays ripe for exploration. The area is particularly popular with divers and golfers with excellent facilities on hand to cater for both interests.
