Episkopi is a village located about 14 kilometers west of the city of Limassol and 40 kilometers east of Paphos. Episkopi is built on the foothill of ancient Kourion at a height of 60 meters. It's close to the west bank of the river Kouris and overlooks the bay of Kourion. Episkopi is rich in agriculture and stock raising, whose roots go back to ancient times. Archaeological remains reveal that Episkopi was closely associated with the ancient town of Curium, while later in the early Christian years, it was the centre of the area and the seat of bishops (to this it owes its name, episkopos is the Greek word for bishop). The surrounding area is full of notable churches and archaeological sites.

Try to imagine a village which stood still in time, the friendly inhabitants since the olden days are vine growers, in the evenings the men will still meet over a drink in the local cafes to pass time over a game of backgammon or chess while the women sit outside their homes drinking coffee and embroidering the famous needle lace. This is Omodhos, located in the district of Limassol, approximately eighteen miles from Limassol and fifteen miles from the nearest beach. The large village square, surrounded by whitewashed stone houses and several tavernas and cafes is a welcome sight on arrival and an ideal place to gather and meet with the local people. The village itself has retained its original architectural character and the narrow streets are spotless and very picturesque. There are many other chapels built in and around the village, all with their own unique history, as well as two museums containing ancient and unique exhibits. Omodhos is also well known for its wine including 'Zivania', a white spirit of 100% proof. Other products of the village include grape syrup 'Epsima' and winter preserve 'Soutshouko' - whilst in Omodhos don't miss the chance to see how these are made. Our opinion: "A hillside village resort overlooking the sea" Peyia at a glance:Peyia village, is 19 km northwest of Paphos. In Peyia, do not forget to quench your thirst at the picturesque fountains, which can be found in the beautiful stone-paved village square. 4½ km from the village, near the fishing refuge, are the ruins of two early Christian basilicas with some very interesting mosaic floors depicting animals. This site must have been an important establishment in Early Christian times. There are also rock-hewn tombs of the Roman period above the sea. Facilities in Peyia are mainly situated on the main road leading into Peyia village. There are plenty of taverns to choose from serving a variety of local dishes.
