Episkopi is a village located about 14 kilometers west of the city of Limassol and 40 kilometers east of Paphos. Episkopi is built on the foothill of ancient Kourion at a height of 60 meters. It's close to the west bank of the river Kouris and overlooks the bay of Kourion. Episkopi is rich in agriculture and stock raising, whose roots go back to ancient times. Archaeological remains reveal that Episkopi was closely associated with the ancient town of Curium, while later in the early Christian years, it was the centre of the area and the seat of bishops (to this it owes its name, episkopos is the Greek word for bishop). The surrounding area is full of notable churches and archaeological sites. |

Holidays in LarnacaOur opinion: "A popular resort with a beautiful treelined promenade and excellent shopping." Larnaca at a glance:
Larnaca sea front lined with tavernas, restaurants and bars is reminiscent of a continental promenade with it's mature palm trees making it a focal point and popular meeting place for tourists and Cypriots alike. Situated at the end of the promenade is the resorts lovely marina, frequented by yachtsmen from all parts of the world and at the western end is the towns 17th century fort. On the outskirts of Larnaca is a large salt lake which is home in the cooler months to graceful colonies of flamingos and other migratory birds. In a peaceful setting on the edge of the salt lake lies the Hala Sultan Tekesi, built to the memory of Prophet Mohammed's aunt. A new tourist area has been developed to the east of the town along a stretch of sandy beach with water sports available. With a well appointed shopping centre in the main town and numerous facilities Larnaca is a popular tourist resort. Situated to the South West of Larnaca is the small Cypriot village of Pervolia, just 8km from Larnaca town.

Situated on the southern coast, Limassol is the second largest city in Cyprus and has developed as a spirited, cosmopolitan and bustling seaside resort. As well as being host to some of the most important events including the Carnival and Wine Festival, Limassol's lively and varied night entertainment provides something for everyone. Backed by the majestic Troodos Mountains, Limassol consists of three main areas with all having access to the sandy/pebbly beaches with numerous water sports. The sandy beach of "Ladies Mile" to the west and "Governors Beach" to the east are easily accessible. A visit to places of interest in and around the city would include the magnificent setting of the ancient Curium Theatre, Kolossi Mediaeval Castle and Limassol Castle which houses the Cyprus Medieval Museum. The Cyprus wine making industry is centred in Limassol, so you will have every chance to taste the best that Cyprus can offer.

Holidays in OmodhosOur opinion: "A impressive resort in the heart of rural Cyprus " Omodhos at a glance:
Try to imagine a village which stood still in time, the friendly inhabitants since the olden days are vine growers, in the evenings the men will still meet over a drink in the local cafes to pass time over a game of backgammon or chess while the women sit outside their homes drinking coffee and embroidering the famous needle lace. This is Omodhos, located in the district of Limassol, approximately eighteen miles from Limassol and fifteen miles from the nearest beach. The large village square, surrounded by whitewashed stone houses and several tavernas and cafes is a welcome sight on arrival and an ideal place to gather and meet with the local people. The village itself has retained its original architectural character and the narrow streets are spotless and very picturesque. There are many other chapels built in and around the village, all with their own unique history, as well as two museums containing ancient and unique exhibits. Omodhos is also well known for its wine including 'Zivania', a white spirit of 100% proof. Other products of the village include grape syrup 'Epsima' and winter preserve 'Soutshouko' - whilst in Omodhos don't miss the chance to see how these are made. On a holiday to Paphos you will discover many sandy and pebbly beaches within Paphos the best sandy beach in the area is Coral Bay, only a short bus ride away. Paphos holidays contain many historical points of interest including the district museum, the Tomb of the Kings, the Pillar of St. Paul, the mosaics of Paphos and many other famous archaeological sites. A short drive away is the legendary site where Aphrodite the Goddess of Love, is said to have been born from the waves. Peyia village, is 19 km northwest of Paphos. In Peyia, do not forget to quench your thirst at the picturesque fountains, which can be found in the beautiful stone-paved village square. 4½ km from the village, near the fishing refuge, are the ruins of two early Christian basilicas with some very interesting mosaic floors depicting animals. This site must have been an important establishment in Early Christian times. There are also rock-hewn tombs of the Roman period above the sea. Facilities in Peyia are mainly situated on the main road leading into Peyia village. There are plenty of taverns to choose from serving a variety of local dishes. |

This quiet resort is situated midway between Paphos and Limassol making it the ideal location for those who wish to escape the crowds. This south-facing village, set high up on the hillside about 1,000ft above the sea, commands the most magnificent view of some 20 miles of Mediterranean coastline. Surrounded by vineyards and beautiful scenery the resort offers a small selection of tavernas serving excellent local cuisine. Some of the island's most famous historical sites are within easy driving distance from Pissouri with the resorts of Limassol and Paphos approximately a thirty-five minute drive away. For those who like a round or two of golf, the Secret Valley Golf Club is just a short drive away. Car hire is a must to enable you to make the most of this delightful island and this picturesque resort enables you to relax in idyllic surroundings. Watersports are available from the jetty. In Pissouri village, where almost everyone speaks English, one can enjoy the friendly atmosphere and savour the relaxed and stress-free life of the village.

Nature lovers and ramblers alike will find plenty to explore in the delightful surrounding areas. 19km north west of Paphos lies the traditional Cypriot village of Peyia. Unspoilt and tranquil, Peyia is also chosen by many couples who wish to get married at the pretty surroundings of the town hall. Facilities tend to be located on the main road leading to Peyia.

Situated between Ayia Napa and Paralimni lies the rapidly expanding resort of Protaras. The beautiful beach of Fig Tree Bay with it's fabulous golden sands and idyllic coves along with numerous other wonderful beaches in the area provide a great excuse to spend lazy days by the sea. Take advantage of the crystal clear waters with the many water sports on offer including scuba diving. Evenings can be spent enjoying a meal in one of the numerous tavernas or restaurants within the resort or visiting one of the many bars. Protaras also boasts two discos for those seeking a lively night out and only 10kms away is Ayia Napa with it's bustling night life for a wider selection. Facilities in resort are plentiful with a wide selection of shops, however a little further along the coast lies the typically Cypriot village of Paralimni offering a much wider range.
