In Cyprus's largest holiday resort, holidays to Limassol promise carefree enjoyment, a wide promenade and bustling shopping streets with the stunning backdrop of the Troodos Mountains. Wander away from the town's lovely and wide beachfront promenade to busy little shopping streets where choices range from the ultra-modern to traditional handmade goods and local produce; if you’ve got time, this is a great place to buy made-to-measure clothes or a pair of handmade shoes. St Andrews Street, not far from the seafront, is a narrow, jostling hive of activity, fascinating to explore with its quaint buildings and overhanging terraces shading busy little boutiques and businesses which compete for your attention. Makarios Avenue is great for designer stores as well as more traditional, smaller shops and well worth spending some of your time and hard earned pennies there.

History buffs will love Limassol castle in the old port. It's said that Richard the Lionheart married Queen Berengaria of Navarre here in 1191, crowning her Queen of England. The grounds house the Medieval Museum of Cyprus with some marvellous examples of pottery and tombstones on exhibit. Visits to places a little further afield include the magnificent setting of the ancient Kourion Theatre where you can take in a show or concert, or the medieval Kolossi Castle. And, if you can't bear to miss a moment of the sunshine, the municipal gardens offer a pleasant stroll amid lush greenery and include a small zoo that will ensure younger family members will be kept happy too.

Limassol is an ideal choice for a fun and lively holiday.
