Our opinion: A large and lovely hotel with a multitude of sports and activities to keep every member of the family entertained.
True to its name, the Louis Phaethon Beach Hotel sits facing a fabulous, palm-fringed stretch of seaside that seems to go on for miles, enough in itself to attract a regular stream of satisfied guests. Add to that the huge, handsome turquoise pool and the endless activities and you've got a winner. Sports are firmly on the fixture list with everything from tennis, to boules, to water polo, bowling and badminton, to name just a few. Children are whisked off to be entertained all day long in the kid's clubs, separate pool or playground, the children's cinema or mini-disco. Not surprisingly, the Louis Phaethon Beach is a hit with families as everyone gets to have a great time.
Accommodation is fresh and comfortable, and family rooms allow young children to stay within calling distance of Mum and Dad. The hotel's main restaurant puts on inviting buffets, including Chinese food at lunch time and in the afternoon, coffee, cakes and a traditional Viennese patisserie will entice you. Thankfully, there's no shortage of fitness opportunities to work off any excess calories: if you don't fancy the gym, try aqua aerobics, or take a bike out for a ride along the seafront.
The attractive Paphos harbour is a short drive away or, for the determinedly energetic, about an hour's walk along the lovely coastline rewarded with the bustle of shops, restaurants and bars you'll find there.
