Our opinion: A simple style accommodation set in a quiet but central location between Larnaca and Limassol. Perfect for those wanting to experience traditional Cypriot village life.
Danae Villas comprises an arrangement of 8 pretty, individual, stone-built self-catering apartments. Each is comfortably furnished and well-equipped, situated around a lovely swimming pool and sun terrace where the bougainvillea tumble over the stonework - the perfect spot to while away a lazy day in the sunshine. The Villas are typical of buildings in the pretty village of Tochni which occupies a picturesque location on the slopes of two hills. Its narrow streets wind their way to the church of Constantinos and Eleni and the village square, where coffee in the local kafeneon while watching the world go by is a daily pastime. The village also provides a small supermarket and bank. Meals, including breakfast, can be enjoyed at the traditional Tochni Taverna, where panoramic views over the village, the scenic surroundings and the sea below are not to be missed. Horse-riding, bike hire and massage are available locally.
Larnaca and Limmasol are both within striking distance, and the popular Governers beach is a short ride away. Yet, here between mountains and coast, you will experience unspoilt life at the heart of rural Cyprus. Take the opportunity to turn your hand to one or two of the local crafts and traditions: learn how to make haloumi cheese, press olive oil, taste the local wine or wander the beautiful citrus groves. For sightseers, the nearby Neolithic site of Tenta is one of Cyprus' most important historic settlements and well worth a visit.
Please note that the accommodation is unsuitable for guests with wheelchairs or walking difficulties.
