Holidays here offer a more relaxing, traditionally Mexican experience. The hotels are self-contained, but some are also conveniently close to vibrant towns like Playa del Carmen. Holidays in Riveria Maya - Things to see
Chicken-Itza - Spend a full day exploring the most spectacular of all Mayan archaeological sites. The impressive complex includes the famous "Kukulcan" pyramid, the wall skulls, the Sacrificial well, the observatory, the Monk's cloister and the largest ball game field in the world, where a whisper can be heard at a distance over 100 yards, due to the remarkable acoustic qualities of this structure.
XCaret Full day - A marvellous eco-archaeological park where you can enjoy a "Mayan" swim, floating safely on the surface of the rivers, or a dip in the Caribbean sea plus lagoons, natural pools and cenotes. Browse through a botanical garden and nursery; visit the amazing aquarium and the wild bird-breeding aviary.
Cancun - There are also two sets of ancient Mayan ruins in Cancun's hotel zone, which are worth a look. The Zona Arqueologica El Rey (on the west side of Boulevard Kukulcan) consists of a small temple and several ceremonial platforms. Yamil Luum (near Sheraton Cancun) is far more run down but in a beautiful location.

Getting Around on Riveria Maya Holidays
Buses: Mexico has a good bus network and you can generally get anywhere you might want to go. If you want to book tickets in advance you can do so through the Ticket Bus reservation service (Tel. 8007028000, www.ticketbus.com.mx).
Taxis: Taxis can be hailed on the street and are generally good value. If the taxi has a metre check that it is working before you begin the journey. If it isn't, make sure you decide on the cost before you set off. Don't be afraid to haggle, if your Spanish (or the driver's English) will allow you to.

Weather and climate information
Mexico is home to one of the world's most sunny climates, but as if to compensate for that, occasionally there is strong winds and rain during the months of September, October and November. But don't worry about that. It's nearly guaranteed that you will see the sun every day of your stay.
The average annual temperature of Mexico is 25.5 degrees Celsius (78 degrees Fahrenheit).
Frequently daytime highs range into the eighties and overnight lows will see the high fifties and low sixties. In July, August and September, visitors can enjoy spectacular views of the sky, which can change from overcast to clear in minutes. From November to April, there are usually blue skies and a cool northern wind.
