Places of Interest
- The Old Village of Alonissos (also known as Chora)- It was the capital of the island until 1965, when there was an earthquake and the people moved down to Patitiri on the coast. The views are really fantastic, with one of the best sunsets all around Greece, and now the Old Village is becoming one of the best parts of the island to visit.
- The Folklore museum in Patitiri - A fascinating museum well worth a visit
- The Byzantine church at Agii Anargiroi
- A national marine park - where you can see rare species of Monk Seal
- The remains of the ancient city walls, with original tombstones and graves. It is thought that this is the site of ancient Ikos.
- On the island of Gioura, you will find Cyclop's Cave, decorated with varicoloured stalactites and stalagmites.
- Psathoura - It has remains of an ancient city, most of which lie submerged

- Agios Dimitrios - horseshoe shaped, fantastic turquoise coloured water
- Leftos Gialos - Crystal clear sea, lush tree-lined coastal area
- Megalos Mourtias - A beautiful beach worth relaxing for at least one day of your holiday
- Tzorti Gialo - A beach recommended for families
Activities to do
- Ideal for trekking - Great paths through the forests. You can either book an organised group walk with a guide and, or you can follow the marked footpaths independently.
- Relaxing and swimming - The calm waters and beautiful landscape provide a wonderful environment for pure rest and relaxation.
Things to Buy
- In Patitiri you can purchase various souvenirs, wooden toys, books and jewellery.
- In Chora there are quite a few local artists, and you can buy paintings, coloured candles and antiques.
- Alonissos housewives selling local delicacies - (amigdalota, xamalia, tuna) along with herbs that are grown on the island, honey, olive oil etc)

Additional Information
Great excursions
Marine Park Cruise Cruise through the marine park, sailing along the Alonissos coast and visiting the deserted islands to the north. A must for all. Excursions available through our office - lunch included.
To get there: The nearest airport is on Skiathos, where you can fly from the UK Airports. From Skiathos, you will be transferred to the ferryboat (about 1,5-2 hours, or hydrofoil: 1hour) to Alonissos.
To get around: The island has two main roads, one from the port of Patitiri to the Old Town and the other from Patitiri to the northern tip of the island, with a side road branching off to Steni Vala and Aghios Dimitrios.
By Boat: It is the main mode of transportation in the island. A fleet of water taxis serves the main beaches, with larger boats sailing around Alonissos and further north to the deserted islands of the Marine Park.
By Bus or taxi: There are four taxis on the island, and a bus service between Patitiri and the Old Town from June to September, ranging from four buses daily to nine or twelve in the high season.
