Our opinion: Staying in Erato or Clio will be an experience of a lifetime for those seeking to experience a traditional Greek holiday.
Erato and Clio houses are both located in the village of Mavrikiano and overlook beautiful Elounda.
Erato can accommodate 4 people in 2 different areas. Erato has a pool and a summer kitchen with BBQ (shared with Clio) on the entrance terrace. Upon entering Erato, there is a main room with a fireplace and two single beds, a fully equipped kitchen and a small bathroom with Jacuzzi. Continue up the stairs to reach a master bedroom with a double bed made in 1920 and lovely oldfashioned lamps that used to belong to the church.
Clio can accommodate 4 people in 2 different areas. An external staircase leads to the upper floor and an ample sized balcony with breathtaking views of the surrounding area. In the main room, there are two single beds and a fireplace; turn left to enter a fully equipped kitchen and on the right is a small bathroom with Jacuzzi. The master bedroom is located a few steps up and also contains a double bed from 1920.
The nearest sandy beach as well as the village of Elounda is a 15-min walk from the properties. The Heraklion airport is about 75km from Elounda.
Please note due to the many original design features, and the care taken to retain the original character of the properties during restoration, the Traditional Homes of Crete are not suitable for those with mobility/balance issues or for children. Care should be taken when on roof terraces/balconies/mezanine floors and and staircases, as some properties have open staircases and elevated floors. Some roof terraces and balconies have low protective walls or railings with large gaps. These features have been kept to allow guests a true experience of the way Cretan people lived over a hundred years ago.

Erato House can accommodate four adults in two different rooms. The ground floor is 40m2, the sofa area is 15m2 and the swimming pool area is 20m2.
Clio House can also accommodate four people in two different areas. The ground floor is 20m2, the balcony is 10m2 and the swimming pool area, shared with Erato House, is 20m2.
