Our opinion: A family run complex with a personal touch.

Set back from the national highway, this friendly, family run complex is only 50 metres from the sea and is an ideal base for a relaxing holiday. The studios have a pool and a snack bar with meals available all day. Guests can enjoy BBQ nights with local cuisine and music under the stars around the pool or even quiz and karaoke nights. A supermarket and taverna are within walking distance and the complex is 12 kilometres from Rethymnon centre.

Although a very quiet village it is only 5 min walk to bus stop and buses frequent and cheap.  A very relaxing holiday and a VERY warm welcome by the family that own the apartments.  If you eat in the food is top notch!!!  They have many people who return yearly.....and we will be back later this year!!!

  2. Olympic Holidays Olympic Holidays at 01:07 pm, 22 July 2011

My son and I stayed in July 2007.  The pool is a perfect size and bar snacks are well priced.  The bus to Rethymnon runs regularly near the hotel and we went there to see the old town which was really lovely.  The Greek night was fun and the owners daughters were great entertainers.

We have just come back from The Blue Dream Apartments. We had a fantastic time there. The owners Litsa and George are such great people. So warm, welcoming, friendly and cannot do enough for you, along with their family who help them. Our room was on the 1st floor and couldn't be better placed. We had a 180deg view of the sea and watched the sunsets at night which were breathtaking. The sea is only 50 metres away too! The room was clean and spacious. They have a great B-B-Q every week and the food is to die for.The pool is just the right size and was very clean and  warm. There was a quiz night, karioke night, wii night. If you can come up with something different they are only to pleased to oblize! There is also a bar - open all hours for those who don't want to go to bed!! They also do half board for those who can't be bothered to do self catering. We will definately be going back. Thanks for a memorable holiday Litsa, take care Lynne & Richard xx

Just spent a wonderful week at Blue Dreams. Booked half board through Olympic and all the food was exceptional.  My dietary needs (coeliac) catered for with no problems.  Litza and George will also cook your favourites if they don't happen to be on the menu.  Lovely room, great sea view, maid service daily.  Nothing was too much trouble.  Would love to go back and will happily recommend.

we have just returned from the blue dreams apts,we had a brilliant time Litsa and George went out of their ways to make sure our holiday was so good nothing was to much trouble and all their lovely family were excellant. their wasnt much about but you really didnt need it we upgraded to half board WOW what excellant value for money, the portions were huge. the pool area was lovely really clean and the pool was spotless. May i also say that in all of our 25 years of holidays abroad we have never had such a thoughtful caring conscientous REP as les what a hero any problem or query Les would sort out we had trouble with our bank card and les sorted it for us straight away even speaking to our English travel agent on our behalf he really is a top bloke. its a shame other reps dont work to his very very high standards. will definateley return to these apts really wish i was their know.

    August 2011
Litsa and her family work very hard to support themselves and keep their business going. Her nephew Paris works above and beyond the call of duty at the P.R.All the facilities are pleasant, clean and comfortable if a little careworn round the edges.Beautiful view from the rear balconies. Great pool ( not in use from 6pm for 9 hours for cleaning)A maid cleans the room most days and  you get two towels each, changed once a week - which you are not allowed to take out of the room. All rooms have a bathroom with a toilet, shower (hot water) and sink. The noise of the highway takes getting used to and we had to keep the windows and balcony door closed at night. The food is ok (egg and chips style) but a little over priced (as is the bar) - for genuine greek cuisine - go elsewhere. They put on a karaoke, a bbq and a quiz night - all good fun and great for meeting other residents but thinly veiled as a way to get you drunk so you will blow more money at the bar.Olympic obviously dont pay them much so they have to make money on the extras - kettle hire, fan hire, 10 euros for drinks in your fridge when you arrive ( just leave them on the side and the maid will take them away) and the food and drink - consequently those who take the self catering option are viewed with resentment and much effort is put in to offering you a B&B or  half board option when you arrive (115/ euros/head) as if booking self catering was somehow an oversight on your part... - although they do provide all the basic plates, cutlery and pans you need to cook in you room - (not washing up stuff, and one complimentary toilet roll/week ) - and there is a very detailed inventory in your room with hefty charges for any loss/damages. For cooking there is a kitchenette sink unit with 2 solid electric hobs a fridge and good cupboard space. Be prepared to spend money at the bar occasionally for the sake of good relations.

The beach is just out the back ( benches for awesome sunset gazing)  but it is all rock - however a 10 minute clamber west takes you to a sandy place with a stoney sea bed ( good for snorkelling) and  fantastic taverna called Bar Eleven with awesome authentic cuisine.

Stavramenos is a truck stop. It has loads of supermarkets, a shell garage, a pharmacy , a very elaborate war memorial and a fantastic bakery, some other tavernas and the bus stops to other places all within 10 minutes walk. The buses are regular, frequent, run up until midnight and cost 1.6e one way to Rethymno ( you have to buy bus tickets in advance at supermarkets or Kiosks) ( kids over 5 pay same as adults) - fantastic extensive souk in the old town and glorious stretch of sandy beach ( shame about the delineated sunbeds and parasols). Street Market on Thursdays.

A 30 minute walk east takes you to the next village -Skaletta past the large Hotel Creta - where there is a cash point and a tourist information office offering you better deals  on car hire and excursions than your Olympic rep.
It also has a long sandy beach, a souvenir supermarket  and beach side tavernas. It is also the home of the yellow train excursion office!!!(15 e /head for 3 hours slow meander around the mountain villages).

Visit Georgioplos for a beautiful quaint Cretan tourist town and the nearby Lake Kournas when the waves get too much.

FOOTNOTE: The two and a half hour drive from the airport to Blue Dreams in the coach with no toilet and no air conditioning - is hell!
