Our opinion: This family run complex is well equipped, beautifully maintained and ideally based for those who want to be close to the resorts amenities.

Set on the main road into the resort of Aghios Nikolaos, this family run complex is an ideal base for those who want to be close to the amenities of the resort. Supermarkets, tavernas and shops are a few minutes walk away and the centre of town is 15 minutes away. A small sandy beach is a 10 minute walk down a steep hill. The accommodation is well equipped and beautifully maintained by the friendly owners. Please note: This property is unsuitable for those with walking difficulties due to the stairs that lead to most of the apartments.

Our opinion: Traditional, comfortable and spacious accommodation which boasting spectacular views of the sea and Sitia mountains.

The popular, family run Golden Apartments are located in an elevated position on the outskirts of Aghios Nikolaos, approximately 2.5 kms from the resort centre and offer modern accommodation with a family atmosphere. The lovely, sandy beach of Almiros is 1.7 kms away. The accommodation is comfortable and spacious with an inviting pool area, lovely gardens and spectacular views of the bay and the Sitia mountains. Please note that due to the elevated location of the property, the coach is unable to drop off clients directly outside the accommodation, therefore some walking with luggage may be required.

Our opinion: A good, simple hotel in an excellent location.

The Lato Hotel offers traditional Cretan accommodation within a lovely garden. It is the perfect place to relax but with the cosmopolitan resort of Aghios Nikolaos just a fifteen minute walk away, you can have the best of both worlds. The hotel is situated in the beautiful Mirabello Bay area, a small golden sand beach is only a couple of minutes walk away and there are welcoming tavernas in the immediate vicinity. The Lato Hotel offers a delightful swimming pool encircled by sunbeds and provides the perfect environment to unwind, sunbathe and perhaps sip a tasty cocktail. Rooms are spacious and airy, decorated in a neutral colour palate. This is a simple and friendly hotel ideal for those looking for a relaxing break.

The family run Micro Village is set in a peaceful, elevated position on the outskirts of Aghios Nikolaos. The pool area is set in beautiful gardens and the accommodation is basic but very well maintained. Guests can relax by the swimming pool whilst soaking up the Mediterranean sun or visit the golden sandy beach. The poolside bar serves a selection of cooling refreshments throughout the day. Guests can enjoy a sauna or make use of the gym (payable locally). There is also a cosy bar with a large TV for guests' enjoyment. The Micro Village Hotel is ideal for those who want to relax and chill out by the pool. The golden sandy beach is a fifteen minute walk downhill. A taverna can be found within a few minute's walk. Due to location this hotel is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.

Our opinion: Great value for families and couples the Alantha apartments are a perfect, peaceful base for exploring the coastline around the buzzing resort of Agios Nikolaos.

The Alantha apartments make up a compact holiday complex situated in a quiet street within five minutes of the centre of the exciting resort of Agios Nikolaos with all its shops, tavernas, restaurants and throbbing nightlife. A three-minute walk will take you from the apartments to the nearest sandy beach. The entire coastline is dotted with marvelous bays and sleepy villages and so, if you like to get a flavour of the authentic Crete, venturing out to explore is an absolute must. The spacious apartments are fully equipped for everything you could need for a comfortable home-from-home, decorated in light, bright contemporary colours and modern furnishings. In the main hotel building, guests can enjoy the games room with billiards, pool and table-tennis, and outside a lovely pool overlooks the sea and nearby islands. Flanking it are sun beds for a relaxing day poolside. There is a snack bar for refreshments during the day, and breakfast is also available here. A covered roof terrace overlooking the shore is the perfect place to sit once the sun has gone down, sipping a cocktail or glass of wine. This is a small, friendly, family-run establishment which strives to offer good value, comfort and peace of mind to its guests in a clean, comfortable and relaxing environment. Our opinion: Faedra Beach Hotel is clean, comfortable and friendly accommodation that will satisfy all types of travellers.

Faedra Beach Hotel & Suites is located on popular sandy beach Ammoudara (Blue Flag award) and only 3 km from Agios Nikolaos, which is one of the nicest and most picturesque places in Crete. Faedra Beach is a very welcoming modern hotel with friendly staff, good cuisine and a variety of facilities on site.

The Coral Hotel is situated on the coastline of Aghios Nikolaos, next door to its sister hotel the Hermes, and is overlooking the endless blue of Mirabello Bay, only 5 minutes from the centre of town. The hotel benefits from great views of the Gulf of Mirabello and is in a prime location next to the harbour. The Coral Hotel consists of 150 double rooms and 15 single rooms, most of them with a sea view of the Mirabello gulf. All rooms are equipped with, double or twin beds, satellite TV, music channels, direct-dial telephone, mini fridge, individual air conditioning units, writing desk, bathroom with bath, hair-dryer, bathroom amenities and furnished balcony. Outside, there is an extraordinary rooftop salt-water swimming pool and a sun terrace with an astonishing sea view. There is a snack bar located next to the pool, serving a wide variety of refreshments throughout the day. The main restaurant, situated on the first floor, serves breakfast and dinner buffet style. Guests can sample a high standard of food whilst enjoying the astonishing views of the sea and beach. Guests can take advantage of the hotel's all-inclusive package that provides all meals, snacks and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic available at a supplement. The Coral Hotel also boasts a packed entertainment programme ensuring that there is never a dull moment for families and couples alike.

Our opinion: The Lito Hotel is near the famous Havania beach 3 kilometres away from Aghios Nikolaos Lake (centre). Traditional, excellent views over Mirabello Gulf and countryside.

The Lito Hotel is located in the resort of Aghios Nikolaos. This basic hotel is set in a wonderful location with great views. The glorious swimming pool is surrounded by spacious terraces, making the Lito Hotel an ideal sun spot and the pool bar serves delicious refreshments throughout the day. Guests may relax and dine in the hotels restaurant and enjoy a drink in the hotel bar. Comfortable rooms offer guests all the amenities that they may need during their stay. The Lito Hotel is great for those looking for a relaxing beach holiday and is also near to the famous Havania beach, just 3 kms away from Aghios Nikolaos.

Our opinion: Excellent, quiet, beautiful accommodation - great for families.

The Candia Park Village is the ideal choice for families and couples alike. Resembling a traditional Cretan village, the unique waterfront location offers panoramic views of Mirabello Bay and the azure sea. The 222 well appointed studios and apartments are comfortable and spacious with all of the modern amenities required for the home from home feel, all rooms have a private terrace where guests can relax. Guests can take a dip in the 2 freshwater swimming pools and younger guests will be kept entertained with their own children's paddle pool and mini club. Guests can visit the poolside bar for a cooling refreshment and the main restaurant serves mouthwatering local and international cuisine. There is a golden sandy beach on site, as well as Havania Beach which is approximately 700 metres away. It is a five minute taxi journey to the centre of Aghios Nikolaos and 10 minutes to the nearby town of Elounda.

The attractive Miramare Hotel is situated in a peaceful location just above the sea front with a great view of the town of Aghios Nikolaos and the Mirabello Bay. The hotel is built in traditional island style architecture and is situated between two beaches which offer a full range of facilities, including water sports. The lively resort centre is just a short walk away. There's also a great outdoor pool for those looking to make a splash during their stay. A fully equipped gym is available to sport loving guests and for those feeling even more active there is a tennis court and water sports available on the beach (payable locally). A wide range of sports and activities are organised by International Animation team. Bellavista, the main restaurant of the hotel, with an indoor and outdoor sitting area, combines remarkable views and unforgettable flavours. Bellavista (Italian for beautiful view) is true to its name as the sea and the mountains in the distance are visible from every corner of the sitting areas. Generous buffet choices of traditional and international cuisine are offered for guests enjoyment for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Weekly special entertainment evenings are organised at the poolside Aeolos Restaurant offering guests unforgettable nights.
