The Mareva Apartments are set in a relaxing location half way between the resorts of Hersonissos and Koutouloufari. The main street of Hersonissos is only 400 metres away where local amenities can be found. Although the accommodation is fairly basic, it is well maintained and located in relaxing surroundings and provides its guests with and excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. This property is situated in a hillside location.

The hotel offers a very pleasant atmosphere, especially its lovely pool area, snack bar and gardens. Due to its location away from the bustle of the resort centre, the Dimitra Hotel is the perfect place in which to relax. Guests can start their day with a tasty continental buffet breakfast served in the breakfast room. A good selection of facilities are also at the disposal of guests, with the pool area being a popular choice for a spot of sunbathing or for a refreshing dip. The children's pool is also on hand to keep younger guests occupied. The Snack bar provides snacks and hot and cold beverages throughout the day. The Dimitra Hotel is for families and couples looking for a relaxing getaway in Crete. The complex is approximately 1 kilometre from the end of the village where guests will find a choice of tavernas, supermarkets, local craft and other gift shops and bars.

Located in an elevated position with spectacular panoramic views over the sea and the mountains, the hotel offers a great value base from which to explore all that this section of the Cretian coast has to offer. This includes amazing scenery and some of the most exciting resorts on the island. Though within a short walking distance, buses from the stop just 200 metres from the hotel will whisk you in no time into the centre of the cosmopolitan town of Heronissos with its wide choice of shops, bars and buzzing nightspots and, a little further along the coast, is the well known party mecca of Malia. There is a good selection of bars and restaurants within 20 metres and there is a supermarket within 50 metres of the hotel. A pleasurable morning's walk will uncover many more pretty sand and shingles coves around this picturesque coastline. Back at the hotel, though, there are plenty of things to keep you there, from the wide range of sporting amenities to the relaxing massages, or simply days spent lazing around the resplendent pool. The Mediterraneo Hotel is a modern complex offering panoramic sea views from its elevated position overlooking the beautiful bay of Hersonissos. Here guests are afforded peace and privacy following a warm welcome from the friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are elegant and comfortable and kept spotlessly clean. In the grounds, two fabulous large swimming pools are directly surrounded by gardens and terraces for sunbathing. The grass parasols lend a distinctly tropical air to the scene and provide shade to protect against the heat when the sun is at its highest. Cool off even more with refreshing drinks from the bar close by. If you've a passion for poolside posing, shape up in the fitness room, or factor in friendly competition with fellow guests in a game of volleyball or tennis on the hotel's own courts. There is even a five-a-side football pitch to debut your dribbling skills. Reaction time rivalry can be played out with air hockey, table football or table tennis until the calming clunk of cue contacting billiard ball mellows the mood. When the grown ups chill out after their exertions, children can, too, in their own swimming pools ... or maybe they're still burning off energy in the playground. Many small sand and shingle beaches are within a few minute's walk and the bars, restaurants, tavernas and shops in the centre of Hersonissos are also within easy reach. If an excursion into the cosmopolitan resort of Heraklion takes your fancy, taxis and public transport can be reached in a 10-15 minute walk.

Our opinion: With a peaceful setting close to the beach, and a great approach to service, the King Minos Palace is the ideal hotel in which to enjoy a wonderful holiday to Crete.

King Minos Palace is a 4 star hotel located 26 kms east of Heraklion Airport, on the north coast of the Cretan Sea, 15 minutes walk from the fishing port of Hersonissos. The hotel lies off a secluded path and is built in Cretan style, consisting of a main building and bungalows with mature and colourful gardens. The hotel is set into a hillside directly above a beautiful sandy beach and offers magnificent panoramic views far out to sea.
