Places Of Interest

Pothia - The islands capital is a picturesque and full of colourful houses piled high on the hills around its harbour which is in the shape of an amphitheatre.
Folkore Museum of Kalymnos - A place you must visit in order to see and learn about the rich history of the island, its people and their customs.
The mountain top fortress at Hora - the island's ancient capital. This was established as a fortress in the Byzantine period and was occupied until the 18th century. Now, just nine chapels remain standing.
The Citadel of the Knights - It is on a steep rock just inland from Pothia. It was built by the Knights of St John and the chapel of the Virgin, within its walls, is on the site of an ancient temple. The citadel overlooks three ruined windmills and has great views of both Pothia and the central part of the island.
Nearby islands - Patmos, Lipsi, Leros, Kos and Nisirros

Beaches

Therma and Gefira - The 'Town' beaches. Both close to Pothia.
Wlihadia - The main resort to the south of the island. It has a beautiful bay, great for swimming and there are an abundance of traditional tavernas.
Kantouni/Linaria - Both of these resorts have beautiful sandy beaches.
Melitsachas - Wonderful small beach facing the neighbouring island of Telendos.
Myrties - Small but pleasant shingle beach. From the jetty you can jump on the little ferry boats across to the island of Telendos.
Telendos - Extremely hot in the height of the season but worth a day trip. Main beach is Chohlakas.

Activities

Diving - The island's main activity, an integral part of the Kalymnian way of life available both at diving centres and at the local school for divers.
Windsurfing - Experience the excellent wind surfing around the island. Windsurfs are available for hire.
Sailing - Set sail from the island by chartering the yacht of your dreams, bareboat or with a skipper and discover the Greek Archipelagos.
Fishing - Try out the local fishing methods by embarking on a small wooden fishing boat or by joining an organised fishing trip.
Trekking - A variety of walks will allow young and old alike to enjoy the impressive scenery and the profusion of wild herbs and flowers which cover the mountain side.

Climate

Generally the weather from June - September is dry and sunny. Temperatures can range from 28°C to 32°F. Even October and May is normally quite a pleasant 21°C to 28°C.

Picnic Cruise

Top up your tan whilst cruising around the neighbouring islands of Plati, Pserimos, Almires and Vathi where we drop the anchor and enjoy a delicious lunch on board.

Island Tour

Explore the real Kalymnos. We first visit the temple of Apollon, then move on to a sponge factory. We also visit Vathi the mandarin valley followed by the church of Agios Savvas and Vlihadia to enjoy our local specialities.

Sunset Cruise Sail

Visit the mystical island of Telendos and take in the colourful sunset. We continue to Emborios where you will have time for an evening stroll and dinner at a local restaurant serving traditional cuisine.

To get there:

Fly to kos from the UK airports.
Kos is located to the south of Kalymnos, just 45 minutes away by ferry.

To get around:

By Boat: An inter-island boat service links Kalymnos with other islands of the Dodecanese. There are boat trips to the nearby isles of Telendos and Pserimos and you can also do a day trip to the volcanic island of Nisyros.

By Bus: Use Municipal Bus Service for your transportation around.
The local buses connect Pothia with some of the beaches, as well as the villages Myrties, Masouri, Vathy and Emporio.

By foot: The distances from Pothia to villages, beaches or climbing places are very short and offer stunning views of the island.

By Car: Hire a fully comprehensively insured car for from our representatives in Kalymnos
