Cave of Drogarati: Located just 5 kms south of Sami, is this large imposing cavern estimated to have been around 150 million years. Eating/Drinking During Svoronata Holidays

Although only a 10-minute drive from the airport, Svoronata remains a sleepy village with a handful of traditional tavernas serving tasty Greek dishes such as lamb kleftiko and beef stifado which can be washed down with a glass or two of the village wine.

Getting Around on Svoronata Holidays

Boat: There are boat connections with the neighbouring islands (Corfu, Ithaka, Levkas) as well as the mainland (Patras, Igoumenitsa and Kyllini) from Argostoli, Sami and Poros. There is a ferry boat between Argostoli and Lixouri.

Car Hire: An excellent way of getting around during Svoronata holidays, car hire gives you complete flexibility as well as the ability to see more of the island.

Bus: There are local buses connecting the main villages. You can get to almost any point on Kefalonia - even remote beaches, villages, and monasteries - by KTEL bus (tel. 26710/22-276 in Argostoli). Schedules, however, are quite flexible. The new KTEL station is on Leoforos A. Tritsi, at the far end of the harbour road, 200m (656 ft.) past the Trapano Bridge.

Taxi: For those who don't enjoy driving twisting mountain roads, taxis are the best alternative but you should negotiate the fare prior to commencing the journey.
