Our opinion: On the southern part of Kos island and amphitheatrically build on a rocky slope running down to the beach, nestles the Sentido Mikri Poli Kos family friendly resort. Swim, or walk by the beach; visit the shopping centre of the small yet popular resort area of Kardamena and discover archaeological treasures; or simply stay in the Hotel and let the hotel entertain you.

The Sentido Mikri Poli Kos sits on the southern part of Kos Island and is amphitheatrically designed on a rocky slope running down to the beach. The resort's main restaurant is named Laurell after the aromatic tree which symbolised victory and merit to the ancients and was sacred to Apollo. The restaurant is set on an impressive veranda where the sumptuous buffets are laid out daily. The chef spoils guests with a great selection of local and international delicacies, live pasta and grill preparation, healthy choices, and Greek flavours. Laurel also hosts Theme Nights; a special set of dinner buffets and decoration, four days a week. Laurel is open daily for breakfast, lunch & dinner (attire is casual).
The Pool House, this restaurant remains is open all day for snacking! late breakfast, delicious snacks and freshly made pastries are served here throughout the day. For young diners there is a buffet laid out with a selection of kid pleasing fun foods. They will love helping themselves to their favourite nutritious foods and siting around the low colourful tables.
Enjoy the casual atmosphere of a laid-back poolside setting at "Refresh Pool Bar". Delight in frozen drinks, fruity cocktails, milkshakes, fresh juices, ice-drinks, coffees and much more. Refresh is open daily throughout the day until early evening hours.
Blue moon, a relaxed and stylish environment, with cozy indoor and outdoor seating and beautiful views of the sea. It is located by the lobby, on an extended wooden porch right by the pool. Enjoy your favourite cocktail at sunset or give the bar-man a chance to create for a yummy recipe for you. Blue Moon is open daily from late afternoon until late evening hours (attire is smart casual).

Just come back from a very relaxing week June 6-13 2012, at the Mikri Poli Resort in Kos.
Hotel was about half full, so no queing in restaurant, & had pick of the sunbeds by the pool - no matter what time u ventured out of bed!
Staff were friendly & speak to all guests in English - which surprised me. Having read reviews on other sites I was expecting a German orientated atmosphere - but this was far from the case. Even the animation team did all their activities in English.
The staff all appear to work 7 days a week so work hard no matter whether they were bar, reception or restaurant & most were polite which was nice.
The atmosphere amongst the guests was relaxed & friendly.
Hotel is not what I consider a 5* but more like a Tour Operator 4* - but was still nice. Having worked overseas for a tour operator myself, I was under no illusion that it would be "5*" but was still happy with the standard. Rooms were clean, spacious & modern - kind of "Ikea" style. Great storage space & for Greek standards the showers were great! (Reasonably powerful & always had hot water). You had the choice of new towels every day or to keep the ones you had to help out the housekeeping & the environment.
One main restaurant in the hotel for all meals, that had great views of the sea & neighbouring small islands. Food was adequate - typical hotel food - dont expect 5* restaurant food, & you should be fine. There was always something to eat - salad bar was great - lovely Greek feta cheese!
Bar staff were friendly - enough all inclusive options to last you (good mojitos!) but the options if you want to pay werent too expensive - a cocktail for 4 euros wasnt breaking the bank!
The All Inclusive was enough for us - b'fast, lunch & dinner plus drinks from pool bar all day & blue bar in lobby at night. Icecream & cake/snacks from pool bar during afternoon. We certainly didnt go hungry or thirsty.
The beach is a thin strip of sand & u need sea shoes on if you want to brave going in the sea as it is very pebbly & shingly. Not the best beach in the world but it does the trick & was lovely & quiet when we were there.
You can hire beach towels from the hotel - for 5 euros (+ 10 euro deposit).
We had problems with our air con not working & ended up moving rooms twice due to this. The lady on reception was lovely & helpful & very apologetic to us.
Be Warned - The manager told us that the air con wasnt officially included until mid June so if you go before then, you may get a room where it doesnt work properly, but they were happy to accommodate us in moving us to a room where it was switched on.
The hotel has a lot of steps as built on multiple levels into a hill - no good if you have walking difficulties.
The hotel is literally only a 10 minute walk into Kardamena - which is the small resort with lots of bars & restaurants. We were told by people there that its quieter than normal for this time of year - whether it was affected by the Greece crisis, Football or the Jubilee at home I dont know, but there are plenty of bars etc there for a good few nights out if you are looking for that!
All in all we had an enjoyable week there & I would go back. Just dont expect a proper 5* hotel (like you'd get in London or somewhere similar - we are not talking Intercontinental/Hilton etc standards!) - this is a tour operator hotel on a Greek Island - their ratings go by facilties available normally so for Greek standards the hotel has good facilties - 24 hr reception, on site shop, great pool, beach, animation, all inclusive, tennis court, use of spa at sister hotel next door, 6 day maid service, option for clean towels 6 days a week, 10 minutes to town, etc etc - if you understand this - you should have a lovely time!
