It is a stunning, pretty town, with the brightly painted balconies of the white washed cube shaped houses and a maze of narrow streets. It also has a great nightlife.

  • Little Venice - It is located in Mykonos Town and it is considered as one of the trademarks of Mykonos Island. It is more exactly situated in the area of "Alefkandra". If you get there, you will really be impressed by the landscape.

To get around:

By Foot: One of Hora's greatest assets is the government decree that made the town an architectural landmark and prohibited motorised traffic on its streets. If you don?t arrive with your donkey or bicycle, you can walk around town. Much of the rest of the island is served by local buses.

By Bus: Mykonos has one of the best bus systems in the Greek islands; the buses run frequently and on schedule. Depending on your destination, a ticket costs about .50 Euros to 3.50 Euros. There are two bus stations in Hora: one near the archaeological museum and one near the Olympic Airways office (follow the helpful blue signs). Check at the tourist office to see which station the bus you want leaves from, or look for one of the schedules sometimes available in hotels. Bus information in English is sometimes available from the office of Greece's long-distance bus service, KTEL (& 22890/23-360).

By Boat: There are daily ferry connections between Mykonos and Andros, Paros, Syros, and Tinos; five to seven trips a week to Ios; four a week to Heraklion, Crete; several a week to Kos and Rhodes; and two a week to Ikaria, Samos, Skiathos, Skyros, and Thessaloniki.

By Car: Rental cars and Jeeps are available from our representatives.

By Taxi: Getting a taxi in Hora is easy; walk to Taxi Square, near the statue, and get in line; a notice board gives rates for each destination for both high and low seasons. You can also phone (& 22890/22-400, or 22890/23-700 for late hour and out-of-town service). You'll be charged the fare from Hora to your pickup point plus the fare to your destination, so before calling, try to find an empty taxi returning to Hora or flag one down along the road.
