Our opinion: A good, basic, family run complex.
Situated in the idyllic village of Lakka in an elevated position, and close to the picturesque harbour, the Bastas Complex is ideally situated for those seeking a truly relaxing holiday. This family-run accommodation is well maintained and is just a five minute walk from the pretty village and the white pebble beaches. The island of Paxos offers stunningly beautiful scenery and is a pretty haven away from the main tourist track. With the Bastas Complex as your base, you can explore the whole island, from the gentle curves of the east to the rugged coastline of the west.

Bastas is situated in a great location were you can take a short wander down to the lovely harbour and tavernas of Lakka or up towards the many walks through the olive groves..Myself & partner stayed in Bastas for a week in june 2012 and loved every minute. Our room was basic but had all that we needed for a base plus our apartment was cleaned daily and sheets were changed..All the staff were so lovely and made you feel like old friends.Tracey our rep was fantastic with great knowledge of the island and she was there everyday if you needed her..I would highly recommend the Bastas complex if you are looking for a basic but clean & friendly base to explore the lovely paxos island..

Sarah, really considering going here now read your review. Never been to Lakka before so just interested to hear if there are any nearby beaches be they pebble or whatever as we don't mind a walk to local beaches that you can swim from. Also what sort of a walk is it to local tavernas etc? Cheers
-
Olympic Holidays at 06:08 pm, 2 August 2011
Hi Galvin...
The walk to tavernas are only a 2-3 min walk from Bastas, there are a good choice to choose from, some in the back streets and some by the waters edge. There is one sort of main pebble beach in Lakka with sun beds which if i recall rightly cost 7euros for the day but just before you reach thet there is a tiny little pebble beach which we used to just lay our towls down on and the swimming in either of these places is lovely..You could hire a boat for the day and stop at one of the coves which is also lovely plus go to Loggos also as this is such a sweet harbour with great food,to get there by taxi cost us 8 euros and we had an evening meal there it was a perfect setting and meal,,,You defently wont be dissapointed with paxos and probably like me will wont to return.
Good luck and let me know how it goes.

I go to Bastas twice a year every year & love it. Tracey is the best rep. ever & living on the island means she knows more about Paxos than even I do! The way the cancellation of the ferries was handled by Tracey & the Olympic team was brilliant. See you in June 2012 .

Hi, just read all these great reviews which has made my mind up to book. So we are heading for Bastas at the end of May 2012. Can't wait...&knowing that 'Tracey' is a great rep is just icing on the cake. As we haven't been to the island before we can really make the most of our holiday by having such great, up to date info to hand. Many thanks for all the reviews,....will report back after our stay. Annie :-)

Olympic Holidays at 12:07 pm, 25 July 2011
the location is excellent 5 minutes stroll from seafront. the pool and bar are great if not large. the family are great and really enjoyed me chatting in my limited greek to them. the room are basic but clean - as usual in Greece there is no kettle but they are cleaned daily except sunday, if i recall. we would recommend as a greekophiles of 35 years as its the way things used to be before mass tourism and the place attracts lots of upmarket yachts so the restaurants are superb. not much of beach but you can go every day for free to a lovely beach with tavernas owned by the same family and relax in sea or a pool and eat well - real greek food - not much else in paxos but who needs it with lovely greek food?

I believe Paxos is great for walking.

Olympic Holidays at 05:08 pm, 14 August 2011
Just returned from our third fortnights holiday at the Bastas on Paxos. Its location could hardly be better; being in a somewhat elevated position it catches the breeze. The rooms are basic but clean and are serviced six days a week. The pool is simply superb with a small bar which provides drinks and surprisingly tasty food. The nearest shops & tavernas are a five minute walk away. The owners have a beautiful beachside taverna with a saltwater swimming pool at nearby Manadendri and a free minibus leaves every morning, returning at 5pm. Tracey the rep is friendly, approachable and very knowledgeable about the island. Her enthusiasm makes it impossible not to enjoy the experience! We shall return!

Hi Martin
Are you into hiking at all, any good walks?
-
Olympic Holidays at 09:08 am, 16 August 2011
Would you recommend hiring a car for a fortnight staying here or is there plenty of public transport, etc
-
Olympic Holidays at 12:08 pm, 19 August 2011
Tracey is great , helped resolve a problem with room allocation. Be advised some of the smaller rooms at Bastas are gloomy with a patio facing a wall, maybe I got one because I was travelling alone. Overall though Paxos is lovely, good walking, views, food and friendly service.

Olympic Holidays at 04:08 pm, 19 August 2011
Idyllic island, very pretty scenery, plenty of pure azure waters to swim and cool in. In Lakka the friendliest of people serve you the food they have made with passion! Accomodation at the Bastas was Greek basic at its best, a perfect no frills base and exceptionally good value. What took it from good to great ( apart from the roof top pool) though, was Tracey the local rep.Customer care taken to the next level due to her depth of local knowledge, infectious love of the island and warm and friendly competence if anything needs sorting. You had better be ther next year Tracey, as we will be back!
-
Olympic Holidays at 10:08 am, 23 August 2011
Absolutely brilliant time. We stopped at the Bastas on 11th July and really enjoyed the week. We had a front facing studio and the location of the hotel was within 2 minutes of the centre of Lakka, which we feel is the best place on Paxos. Would return to Paxos and Bastas apartments again.
-
Olympic Holidays at 01:08 pm, 24 August 2011
We love it (family of four) and would recommend to anyone! Top tip - take masses of cash (rooms have a safe) as we got caught out the first time. Bars and restaurants don't take cards and the nearest cashpoint is in Giaos. What are the food prices like this year and is Gabby still running the pool bar?
-
Olympic Holidays at 07:08 pm, 26 August 2011
Excellent accommodation for the money- you won't do better on Paxos... Simple Greek family-run accommodation at it's very best.
You could easily pay an extra £500 per couple if you wanted slightly more fancy accommodation, but my advice is to go & blow the grand you've saved on hiring a boat- we paid an average of £70 a day on a perfect little 30hp with padded sunlounging areas built-in. We lived like millionaires and spent (relatively) peanuts, visiting every stunning part of both Paxos & Antipaxos. Don't worry about car or bike hire if you take this approach- the islands are tiny and just about everything worth seeing is on the coast.
Tracey is the best rep I've ever seen (& I've been a Resort Manager for 3 seasons in the past, so I know what I'm talking about!).

Bastas is excellent value for money. Paxos is quiet and
relatively unspoiled. The beach which the Bastas minibus takes you to and from every
day has everything needed for a relaxing
do-nothing beach holiday.
The Olympic rep Tracey is passionate and knowledgeable, very professional and super efficient. This place is definitely worth a visit!

Olympic Holidays at 06:09 pm, 23 September 2011
Beautiful island and good basic and clean accomodation. I am a repeat visitor and this year went on my own as a solo woman in late 30's. Perfectly safe and very friendly. Brilliant pool and staff great. Only thing I would change is the flights/airline and communication from reps at the airport. This was not good this year and would be the only thing that would put me off going again. Tracey the local rep was excellent. Am thinking of going to the Bastas next year, but might try arranging my own flights to avoid the nightmare return journey this year! Very reasonable if not eating out all the time and it is possible as good minimarkets with fresh fruit and veg, and a fab bakery by the harbour edge. Lakka is definitely a special place and I will be back. N.B would not recommend to families with teenagers as Paxos is not a lively resort with not much for that agegroup. Teens staying were very bored. For those looking for beautiful scenery, peace and tranquility (and hot sunshine in August) it is ideal. Also take plenty of cash as it is really a cash only island with one ATM in Gaios. Only a couple of restaurants take visa etc.

Olympic Holidays at 01:10 pm, 5 October 2011
Stayed at the Bastas last year and found it comfortable and well-equipped and v well sited just five minutes from pretty, picturesque Lakka harbour. Superb restaurants everywhere in Lakka. Lovely friendly family run the apartments and the rep in 2010 was excellent (I'm sorry, but I don't remember her name - she kept her cool and sorted us all out during the volcanic ash situation with admirable good humour and patience...). Good swimming at a beach about ten minutes stroll from the harbour and at beautiful Monodendri - using the Bastas minibus service. The walking on Paxos is excellent and one can buy a really good, detailed, accurate walking map in local shops; especially good as many Greek island maps are not so great, at least to a Brit raised on Ordnance Survey quality! Beautiful green island, peaceful, friendly, relaxed pace of life. Highly recommended.
-
Olympic Holidays at 03:10 pm, 21 October 2011
3rd time in Lakka, still as pretty as before and as friendly. Basta accomodation reflects the budget price paid but was perfectly acceptable. The Olympic rep Tracey was excellect particularly as the flying dolphin and ferry services were suspended.

Just got back froma wonderful week on the beautiful island of Paxos - we had thunderstorms but that just added to the fun. The Olympic team and especially Tracey (our rep at the Bastas) couldn't do enough for us and had comprehensive knowledge of the Island and it's delights. Will certainly be making a return vist ;))

just returned from our second trip to Lakka and the Bastas accomodation. Still as wonderful as it was the first time and we shall be sure to return for a third.
The accomodation is in a great location, very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rep Tracey is great and always at hand to help with any problems.

Just returned 11/10/2011 Good basic accommodation hot water clean sheets beautiful views of harbour even though ours was classed as inland view. Excellent location 2/3 mins from harbour/ beaches & Tavernas (Alexandros) hidden just outside the Main. Sq Meals to die for & he let us have our 1st one on tick when we realised we hadn't changed euros(majority of places were not taking Visa due to economy) Heavenly massages can be had at the Sanctury by Sylvie corner of the Square. The Bastas has a free bus to Manandari Beach this is a must use service has everything there that you will need free beds/pedaloes etc toilets/showers. Also bar & food available (a little dear) the Bastas was basic kitchen equipment (lacked electric kettle) had safety boxes @ €7 per wk + a vast library to either borrow or exchange be a devil donate yours & enjoy..................

Olympic Holidays at 01:02 pm, 7 February 2012
My first visit to Paxos in September 2011 and I LOVED IT. What a place! Bastas to me was a typical Greek Hotel, very clean and the staff very helpful. Really liked the mini bus down to the wonderful beach. Tracey could not have been more helpful to me and I loved her. My partner (who has been going for years) and I have booked 2 weeks in June - yipeee

Absolutely tonnes!!
-
Olympic Holidays at 08:03 pm, 7 March 2012
we've just booked to go in May and after reading your comments we are looking forward to it. I do have some questions that I would like answered. As the nearest cash point is in Giaos is there somwhere in lakka to exchange travellers cheques or is there a bus service/taxi to travel to Giaos. I would also like to know is there any good snorkelling nearby
-
Olympic Holidays at 08:03 pm, 19 March 2012
Yes there are a couple of places on the harbour - Planos travel agent and boat hire place a bit further along. Most places take cards. There is also a reliable bus service but the best way to get cash is to hire a boat for the day and include a visit to Giaos in your schedule. We fell in love with Lakka about twelve years ago - you will love it. Incidentally, I believe there is a diving school that operates out of a lock-up just below the Bastas Hotel which is run by some British people so presumably there is some good diving to be had.

Olympic Holidays at 10:03 pm, 10 March 2012
After reading all the positive reviews we have just taken the plunge and booked at the Bastas for two weeks this September!! We have travelled to quite a few Greek islands over the last twenty five years and always wanted to stay on Paxos but somehow never made it, just looking at the photographs and videos of the Island it is quite clear that it is a place of real natural beauty with it's own unique identity.
Roll on September :)

hi we just love all things Greek- and have booked for a fortnight in august-2 studios for mum, dad,a grown up daughter and 2 teenagers.Am only wary of one thing and that the rooms may be noisy-can anyone allay my fears?
-
Olympic Holidays at 10:04 am, 14 April 2012
It's a very quiet island, the worst noise you'll get is the odd moped early & late with locals going to work IF your room is facing the road.
-
Olympic Holidays at 09:05 am, 1 May 2012
Rooms are very basic, but not noisy, we stayed there a couple of years ago & had a very relaxing holiday.
-
Olympic Holidays at 08:04 pm, 13 April 2012

Olympic Holidays at 05:04 pm, 27 April 2012
Hi Andy, virtually impossible to pre book taxis in Paxos, what ever they tell you!!!! There are only 4/5 of themon the island and they are always busy on a first come first served basis parrticularly on a monday

Hire a boat to explore the island in style. Easy to use and a fab day out at your wn leisure
-
Olympic Holidays at 05:05 pm, 3 May 2012
We stayed 2 years ago - lovely place. Short walk to the harbour with lots of stylish bars on the waters edge with comfy sofas. Lots of Tavernas. There is a local bus that literally goes through the island in about 30 minutes. The hotel also has a beach bar/restaurant/swimming pool a free shuttle bus service away. Great place to stay - take a berliotti type coffee pot and enjoy breakfast on your balcony with warm bread etc from the local bakers. A lovely island - when we were there there was no building anywhere we could see.
-
Olympic Holidays at 06:05 pm, 4 May 2012
Ian,Lah thanks for your reply. i have now booked for the 9th july, i am so excited just to soak up the sun and be lazy without being in a busy enviroment. i will be sure to hire the boat i have seen this advice on trip advisor not one comment has anything bad to say. im still unsure on what happens when we arrive at corfu airport. regarding getting to the port and traveling over to paxos.will there be reps that we rely on when we arrive in corfu?
-
Olympic Holidays at 03:05 pm, 9 May 2012
Lostboy89
when you arrive at corfu airport you will be met by a Olympic rep who will give you Ferry/Dolphin tickets and put you on the bus which takes you to the port at corfu (approx 20 mins) you will then board the ferry/Dolphin, when you get to paxos, you will be met by another Olympic rep who takes you to the hotel. It is generally a seamless operation, you will only get problems if your flight is late, you will still be looked after by Olympic reps so don't worry. You have made a great choice of holiday and you are sure to enjoy yourselves. We have been several times and love it. PS I am not employed by Olympic just a happy customer
-
Olympic Holidays at 07:05 pm, 10 May 2012

Olympic Holidays at 03:05 pm, 18 May 2012
Accommodation is basic but clean and with everything you need. I have stayed there for the last seven years and still love it! The island is beautiful, quiet and really relaxing with lovely beaches and lots of good places to eat. The transfers are smooth with reps at every stage to advise. Excellent value.
-
Olympic Holidays at 08:05 am, 19 May 2012
Hi, we are coming to Bastas on 9th July, second time to the island, last time we travelled independantly though, can anyone advise if we will be gettin the quick 45 min transfer or is it the looong boat journey, and what time will we be departing Corfu for Paxos. Has anyone got any advice on things we need to take for the hotel, do we need to take our own towels for the shower etc....
Thanks!!!
-
Olympic Holidays at 02:05 pm, 24 May 2012
Hi Samh, can't answer about boat tranfer as last time we went the ferries were off and had a sea taxi.
Regarding the room, I would take an extra towel each as they supply only one per person, presume you'd want at least another for the beach. I would also take a tea towel and a dish sponge/cloth and pos small amount of washing up liquid, also an extra loo roll.
Rooms are very basic but in general they're nice and clean, I suppose you could describe them as "rustic".
We love it there and are going for our second trip this year in June. V excited!!

Olympic Holidays at 02:05 pm, 25 May 2012
Hello ... we are going to Bastas (Paxos) next month (May). As it's the first time we have stayed on an island without an airport thus requiring boat passage can anyone confirm if it's a ferry crossing (therefore long time) or the hydrofoil? Also recommendations on taverna for first night?
-
Olympic Holidays at 08:05 pm, 26 May 2012
We've always went on the hydrofoil takes about 1hour you'll love it once your there. Try Iain's in main square or the garden resturant
-
Olympic Holidays at 08:06 pm, 6 June 2012
Hydrofoil and ferry cover this route. 30 years ago on my first trip it was a converted fishing boat but things have improved. First night would recommend Nionios in the main square.
-
Olympic Holidays at 07:06 am, 2 June 2012
Just booked a holiday there for last week in May, will the resort be fully open .. with bars and restaurants all open in such early season ? Also if anyone has been before in May is it hot enough for swimming in the sea or should we pack more trousers/jumpers
-
Olympic Holidays at 08:06 pm, 6 June 2012
the weather is beautiful at the end of May. V warm and sunny without the crowds. everything will be open. Dont forget to try an evening meal at Nionios, in the main square . Drinks over looking the habour at the harbour lights on your way back to the appts.
-
Olympic Holidays at 01:06 pm, 6 June 2012

Olympic Holidays at 10:06 am, 10 June 2012
You can get boat trips from the harbour or hire small self drive boats. great fun for hopping in and out of the small bays.Anti paxos is a must trip.Take plenty of cash as prices a little higher than places like corfu.paxos is a real chill island and a great place to be

-
Olympic Holidays at 08:06 pm, 17 June 2012
Hi We are just back from Paxos and there is a place in Lakka, down on the front, that will change money. They were giving a good rate last week. Better than I got in the UK
-
Olympic Holidays at 10:06 am, 18 June 2012
The £ is stronger against the euro than it has been for 5 years. It's an impossility to leave the euro within a matter of weeks, and even if they did Euro's would still be accepted. Try Money Saving Exeoert for the best exchnage rates. Have a fab hol

just returned from a lovely stay at the Bastas. we were in room 27 which has a lovely view to the hills and a sneaky peak to the right, down to harami beach. I think all rooms have balconies furnished with a table and chairs. we now have the Paxos bug and will definately return just like everyone we spoke to who had returned for the umpteenth time! you might be lucky to experience the chilled out, relaxed Paxos before the hordes arrive mid July/August.
-
Olympic Holidays at 07:07 pm, 7 July 2012
We were lucky enough to visit Paxos a couple of years ago. We went in August and it was still the most relaxed holiday that we have ever had (and we, as probably you all are, true Greekophiles) so don't be put off going in high season. We fully intended to go back the following year (and could quite happily never go anywhere else) but then thought that there are still plenty of islands that we have not seen.
Paxos is just beautiful. You will not regret it for one moment.
-
Olympic Holidays at 12:07 pm, 10 July 2012
We enjoyed our fourth visit to Bastas Complex in May this year. We were made to feel welcome as always by Kostas and his family and immediately relaxed to unwind and settle into our home from home. For anyone who appreciates traditional Greek holidays this is perfect. The wonderful roof top swimming pool and terrace area is fantastic. Kostas takes a mini bus down to the beach each day, make sure you join in the weekly barbeque, an ideal opportunity to get to know the other guests. Be adventurous and take out a small boat to explore the hidden coves. Walk along the old donkey paths through the olive groves and marvel at the spectacular views. Try the many tavernas serving traditional Greek food. Visit Harbour Lights for evening cocktails and you might be lucky enough to be entertained and join in an impromptu sing song. If you go in May you will see the fireflies on your walk back after your evening meal. Kostas will give a good exchange rate for your cash and a short bus ride into Gaios takes you to the cash points. Loggos is a delight, a pleasant walk from Lakka, make sure you stop for a drink at the water's edge at Roxy's. If you're looking for impersonal luxury hotels don't go to Bastas but if you want a holiday to remember, with plenty of laughs and good company it's the place for you.

ohhh your comment has just got me really excited for our holiday, we fly out on the 9th July from Manchester. Did you fly from Manchester, and if so, do you know what transfer we get from Corfu to Paxos, is it the Hydrofoil (fingers crossed) or the long ferry?! What day was the weekly barbeque on??
-
Olympic Holidays at 08:07 am, 16 July 2012
We flew from East Midlands with Jet 2 who were excellent. The transfer is nearly always by Hydrofoil although we were taken by water taxi once which was fun. The barbeque is normally on a Wednesday. You'll have a great time, wish I was back there.

Hi 2spencer2
we had a great time at Bastas last year and are returning again in August; can you tell me if it's true that the lovely Tracey is no longer there (do you know what happened to her)? and who and what is the new rep like? Thanks alot
-
Olympic Holidays at 12:07 pm, 16 July 2012
We went in May this year also and got the two hour ferry on the way there which is very comfortable if not more so than the hydrofoil and the hydrofoil on the way home which takes an hour.

We are visiting in July. Is there any car or moped hire availableto enable exploration of the Island
-
Olympic Holidays at 08:07 am, 16 July 2012
Yes, there is car hire available and I think mopeds as well. Most people also hire a small boat for a day to explore the many hidden coves.

We have just returned from our holiday in Paxos and this was our 3rd Year. The Bastas complex is a lovely place to stay, the family are so lovely, helpful and friendly likewise all the staff and the lovely Petya who works the pool area. Sam is a great rep and is very friendly and helpful and we cannot wait to go back next year. I would recommend this complex to anyone.

Olympic Holidays at 05:07 pm, 25 July 2012
I am thinking of visiting the Bastas apts in Sept. how elevated a position are they and is Lakka a hilly resort?
-
Olympic Holidays at 08:08 am, 17 August 2012
arrived back in Uk last night after 1 week a return visit to Paxos, stayed with the Bastas family in Lakka, room 19. Wonderful peaceful break away. rep Sam was available at all times to assist with anything. Great pool and bar area, the photos in Olympic ads do not do it justice. Great staff, basic room but very clean and comfortable . thank you very much for a glorious break, we will return.

Good luck and let me know how it goes.-
Olympic Holidays at 12:02 pm, 7 February 2012

Many thanks for all the reviews,....will report back after our stay. the location is excellent 5 minutes stroll from seafront. the pool and bar are great if not large. the family are great and really enjoyed me chatting in my limited greek to them. the room are basic but clean - as usual in Greece there is no kettle but they are cleaned daily except sunday, if i recall. we would recommend as a greekophiles of 35 years as its the way things used to be before mass tourism and the place attracts lots of upmarket yachts so the restaurants are superb. not much of beach but you can go every day for free to a lovely beach with tavernas owned by the same family and relax in sea or a pool and eat well - real greek food - not much else in paxos but who needs it with lovely greek food?
I believe Paxos is great for walking.

Hi Martin, how are the prices for eating out in Lakka this year? Was the resort full?
Keith -
Olympic Holidays at 02:08 pm, 18 August 2011
Hi Martin
Are you into hiking at all, any good walks?
Would you recommend hiring a car for a fortnight staying here or is there plenty of public transport, etc
Tracey is great , helped resolve a problem with room allocation. Be advised some of the smaller rooms at Bastas are gloomy with a patio facing a wall, maybe I got one because I was travelling alone. Overall though Paxos is lovely, good walking, views, food and friendly service.
-
Olympic Holidays at 09:08 pm, 26 August 2011
Thanks for your comments
Bastas is excellent value for money. Paxos is quiet and
relatively unspoiled. The beach which the Bastas minibus takes you to and from every
day has everything needed for a relaxing
do-nothing beach holiday.
The Olympic rep Tracey is passionate and knowledgeable, very professional and super efficient. This place is definitely worth a visit!
Had a great time good value for money at bastas basic but clean and friendly pool area fab sun till 8pm owners great and good rep Tracey who knows all there is to know Lakka is the best place in my opinion good places to eat. Will be back GILLIAN
Is Olympics famous Rep - TRACEY - still available
-
Olympic Holidays at 12:09 pm, 30 September 2011
Yes she certainly is!
3rd time in Lakka, still as pretty as before and as friendly. Basta accomodation reflects the budget price paid but was perfectly acceptable. The Olympic rep Tracey was excellect particularly as the flying dolphin and ferry services were suspended.
a truly great value for your money beautiful island great resort basic but clean & staff friendly elevated pool great in sun all day long with pool bar and good food served will defineatley be going back
Just got back froma wonderful week on the beautiful island of Paxos - we had thunderstorms but that just added to the fun.
The rep Tracey is great and always at hand to help with any problems.
have stayed here now for 3 years 2008 9 /10 -- think my trip advisor post says it all - wonderful complex , vicinity and restaurants - second to none ....
Also bar & food available (a little dear) the Bastas was basic kitchen equipment (lacked electric kettle) had safety boxes @ €7 per wk + a vast library to either borrow or exchange be a devil donate yours & enjoy..................
basic accommodation, good location, lovely restaurants and bars on sea front, lovely beaches, friendly people!
Will come back to Paxos ( Bastos) as soon as we know that TRACY is still there
My first visit to Paxos in September 2011 and I LOVED IT.
Have been going to Paxos and the Bastas for the last 5 years the hole place is just a dream unspoilt island long may it continue
Tracy is the best rep you could ask for
We will be back this September
We have just booked to go in May. Could anyone tell me if there is any good snorkeling nearby?
-
Olympic Holidays at 10:04 am, 14 April 2012
Absolutely tonnes!!
we've just booked to go in May and after reading your comments we are looking forward to it.

The snorkelling is fantastic, I was scared to swin in the sea until I visited Paxos!

Roll on September :)

my husband and i have been going to paxos for many years, we are also going in september, just wanted to say you will love the place and fall in love with it as we have, cant wait to see all our friends
We have also just booked for the first week in October 2012 cant wait !
hi we just love all things Greek- and have booked for a fortnight in august-2 studios for mum, dad,a grown up daughter and 2 teenagers.Am only wary of one thing and that the rooms may be noisy-can anyone allay my fears?
-
Olympic Holidays at 10:04 am, 14 April 2012
It's a very quiet island, the worst noise you'll get is the odd moped early & late with locals going to work IF your room is facing the road.
-
Olympic Holidays at 09:05 am, 1 May 2012
Rooms are very basic, but not noisy, we stayed there a couple of years ago & had a very relaxing holiday.
Interested in booking but not sure what kitchenette means-does that include a small fridge?
-
Olympic Holidays at 10:04 pm, 13 April 2012
Yes a small fridge, 2 hot rings for cooking and a few utensils. Generally does not include ovens.
-
Olympic Holidays at 07:05 pm, 18 May 2012
Are there sand beaches on the island and how far away are they?
There is no option available here to book a taxi from Paxos Port to the accommodation - can you please advise how to pre-book?
-
Olympic Holidays at 07:04 pm, 18 April 2012
Please call and we will advise. Many thanks
-
Olympic Holidays at 05:04 pm, 27 April 2012
Hi Andy, virtually impossible to pre book taxis in Paxos, what ever they tell you!!!! There are only 4/5 of themon the island and they are always busy on a first come first served basis parrticularly on a monday
planning on a week in july. looks amazing. can anybody tell me places to look out for and to visit.
And how does the ferrie system work ect. cooments apreciated
-
Olympic Holidays at 07:05 pm, 2 May 2012
Hire a boat to explore the island in style.
Lostboy89
when you arrive at corfu airport you will be met by a Olympic rep who will give you Ferry/Dolphin tickets and put you on the bus which takes you to the port at corfu (approx 20 mins) you will then board the ferry/Dolphin, when you get to paxos, you will be met by another Olympic rep who takes you to the hotel. It is generally a seamless operation, you will only get problems if your flight is late, you will still be looked after by Olympic reps so don't worry. You have made a great choice of holiday and you are sure to enjoy yourselves. We have been several times and love it. PS I am not employed by Olympic just a happy customer
Bobbyboy thanks for your help. glad thats all cleared up. i will be sure to share my holiday experiance when i get back :)
Accommodation is basic but clean and with everything you need. I have stayed there for the last seven years and still love it! The island is beautiful, quiet and really relaxing with lovely beaches and lots of good places to eat. The transfers are smooth with reps at every stage to advise. Excellent value.
V excited!!-
Olympic Holidays at 12:05 pm, 25 May 2012
Hippowarrior,
Thanks for your response :)
I am so excited to get back to Paxos just cant wait!!
-
HI we are travelling to Paxos for 2 weeks in July and cannot wait after reading all the lovely reviews, will we know in advance where we are spending our first evening in Corfu as we arrive after last Hydrofoil on the Monday evening. Do Olympic advise in advance or just allocate when you land. Kathy
Hello ... we are going to Bastas (Paxos) next month (May).
Still not sure how we get from the port to the apartments, do we have to book a taxi or are we picked up by Olympic rep.
-
Olympic Holidays at 06:06 pm, 13 June 2012
u are taken from the port to Bastas by Bus, no cost.
Out of curiosity do any of you know about info on day trips to the other islands? And also as there is no atm how much money do you think suitable for 2 people on a weeks stay?
-
Olympic Holidays at 10:06 am, 10 June 2012
You can get boat trips from the harbour or hire small self drive boats. great fun for hopping in and out of the small bays.Anti paxos is a must trip.Take plenty of cash as prices a little higher than places like corfu.paxos is a real chill island and a great place to be
-
Olympic Holidays at 10:06 am, 18 June 2012
I believe there are ATM's in Gaios. Planos in Lakka do exchange money too. We took £400 each last year and struggled to spend it! plus you get more for the £ this year

Hi me and my partner are travelling to paxos on 28th may can't wait to relax, trying to sort out money, are we okay to get euros or shall we wait?wondering whether it's likely to change when Greek government is sorted.
-
Olympic Holidays at 08:06 pm, 17 June 2012
Hi We are just back from Paxos and there is a place in Lakka, down on the front, that will change money. They were giving a good rate last week. Better than I got in the UK
-
Olympic Holidays at 10:06 am, 18 June 2012
The £ is stronger against the euro than it has been for 5 years. It's an impossility to leave the euro within a matter of weeks, and even if they did Euro's would still be accepted. Try Money Saving Exeoert for the best exchnage rates. Have a fab hol
-

Bastas Hotel also offers the same exchange rate as the other companies in Lakka, ask at reception!

me and my husband are going to bastas apartments at the start of july do all the studio appartments have seating outside ,cant wait to chill out
-
Olympic Holidays at 10:06 am, 24 June 2012
Yes!
just returned from a lovely stay at the Bastas. we were in room 27 which has a lovely view to the hills and a sneaky peak to the right, down to harami beach. I think all rooms have balconies furnished with a table and chairs. we now have the Paxos bug and will definately return just like everyone we spoke to who had returned for the umpteenth time! you might be lucky to experience the chilled out, relaxed Paxos before the hordes arrive mid July/August.

Olympic Holidays at 12:07 pm, 16 July 2012
We went in May this year also and got the two hour ferry on the way there which is very comfortable if not more so than the hydrofoil and the hydrofoil on the way home which takes an hour.
-
We are visiting in July. Is there any car or moped hire availableto enable exploration of the Island
-
Olympic Holidays at 08:07 am, 16 July 2012
Yes, there is car hire available and I think mopeds as well. Most people also hire a small boat for a day to explore the many hidden coves.
we are thinking of visiting paxos , and like the look of Bastas Complex, can some please tell us what the prices as like in local Tavernas
I am thinking of visiting the Bastas apts in Sept. how elevated a position are they and is Lakka a hilly resort?
arrived back in Uk last night after 1 week a return visit to Paxos, stayed with the Bastas family in Lakka, room 19. Wonderful peaceful break away. rep Sam was available at all times to assist with anything. Great pool and bar area, the photos in Olympic ads do not do it justice. Great staff, basic room but very clean and comfortable . thank you very much for a glorious break, we will return.
