Our opinion:
A great value hotel away from the resort centre - perfect for a relaxing break.
The Golden Odyssey Hotel is situated in Kolymbia, between Faliraki and Lindos. It is made up of 8 buildings (including the restaurant) where each room has a balcony - making a delightful place to sit and read a book once you have finished your sunbathing.
The swimming pool is a central attraction with a shaded area perfect for snoozing in the warmth without burning, with the main bar on hand to keep a steady flow of refreshing drinks coming your way. Active guests might take a turn on the hotel's tennis court or the table tennis table.
About 1500 metres away is the beautifully clean, sandy beach of Kolymbia, and the centre of Kolymbia town with a few shops, restaurants and bars. If you don't fancy the walk, a regular shuttle service runs between the hotel and the beach to ensure you don't miss a moment of the fun.

we have just come back after 2 lovely weeks at golden odyssey this is our second stay here in 2 years .do think management have let some things slip this time ,although we do go just to relax we were dissapointed when they sacked the animation team and left us without entertainment for 3 nights cant understand why as fathi di and vikki were doing a fantastic job !

We have just spent the last two weeks at the Golden Odyssey and do feel dissapointed. Food not very appetizing and never labelled which is a big problem for those who need to know what they are eating. Breakfast service had hot chipped glass bowls for cereal and most days no bread for toast. Not able to get a sunbed in the two weeks we were there due to the fact that they have towels on them the night before! Accomodation very basic but clean, air con not working as it should have been, even after reporting it. Long queues at the bar in the evening, only one barman serving, and again warm wine in hot glasses! Should have been better for a four star hotel

Comment from Resort Manager -.
''1. There have not been labels on the food but this will be actioned immediately, today.
2. The Rep will check the bowls with the owner and if there are chipped ones these will be replaced - this is unacceptable.
3. The owner purchased 20 sun beds last week so there are now 120 beds in total. He will also purchase another 20 more this week - 140. Re the controlling of towels on the beds - this difficult.
3. The air con works 24 hours a day however a pipe did break in the system and this was fixed the next day.
4. The queues have been long, partly caused by guests ordering 8 drink each time they go up - often cocktails. There are now three barmen at the hotel and they have put a sign to limit the order to 2 drinks at a time.
5. It is a 4 'flame' hotel with an official Greek classification of 'A Class.''
It is a very good value 4 star hotel. There are other 4 star hotels that are more luxurious but they are far more expensive.
Thanks for your feedback.

Regarding the towels on sunbeds ...why do you say this is difficult!!!! Most resorts have signs up now saying towels will be removed if left on sunbeds overnight.all it takes is someone to go round last thing at night and remove them. It is not fair to hog limited sunbeds in this way. I certainly wouldn't have gone without a sunbed for the whole two weeks as the person above said they had, I would have removed some if I thought they had been left there all night.

We have just spent 2 weeks at The Golden Odyssey and have generally been very pleased. Everyone questioned 4 star rating but rember this is a Greek rating and not the same as UK start ratings. It is much better than most greek establishmenst at this price. There are several issues that frustrated us and they are similar to Yvonnes. Cold beer or wine into red hot glasses was annoying as was putting the salad onto a very hot plate or the fruit and yoghurt into hot bowls. The food was labeled once, generally you took pot luck, some people did not like what they had taken so went and got another plate. Our issue was choosing what to have! There was always plenty and as far as Greek food goes it was good. Friday night is Greek Night and the Mousakka is superb! The price paid for the holiday was so reasonable we chose to go and eat out when on days out or when visiting the beach that was acually 2.2 km away and not 950 metres away. The town is 1.6km away, the closest bar is 650 metres away and does two cocktails for 4 euros.
The hotel is spotlessly clean and the bedding and towels changed daily. The sunbeds are a pain as the european cousins all put their towels out the night before just in case they go to the pool. The 20 new blue sunbeds are partly to replace the many broken ones. They still need more however then there would be little room to move around the pool.
Be aware that the do water polo twice a day and the ball flies around so its a good time to go inside or to the bar or you will get hit! They also go aqua aerobics daily and some days they did pilates/yoga/relaxation classes under the trees.
The cocktails and spirits are all locally sourced and not as good as branded drinks, however for what you are paying they are fine and a bottle of proper Bacardi in the fridge allows you to indulge in the privacy of your own balcony.Unlimited soft drinks and water is a huge bonus as these cost 2 euros each outside the hotel complex. They do not do squash drinks, its all fizzzz.
Normally George does well on his own behind the bar, it would be very useful for him to have some assistance at busy times though, however there would then be an increased cost to the holiday of course.
All in all we enjoyed the hotel and the facilities. To keep sane and see some of the island you need a car for days or evenings out. Book this in advance from Holiday Autos as the cost is about half of what you pay at the hotel. Lindos and Rhodes Town are both 25 kilometers away and are great for days and nights out (after the evening meal of course) and there are plenty of places to go and beaches to discover.
If when you get there you do not like the room or location do not ask Neil to swap hotels as the rooms are all full. We paid for a superior room and got a standard refurbished room which was a great deal better than most Greek Hotel rooms. the major bonus in the heat wave as our balcony was north facing we could escape the sun! As a consequence do not pay the extra for superior rooms as these refurbed rooms cost the same rate on the doors and no one else had paid a premium for them.
Overall it was good value for money, not good for the local economy but you can make a difference by using it as a traditional B&B hotel and spend your euros in the local bars and tavernas and have a good time. Yamas!.

Have just got back from spending 2 weeks at this resort. Went with my wife and 4 children and had a fantastic time. The staff were all very friendly and the entertainment was good. The accomodation was clean and the maid service was daily. The food was plenty, although as most people have already said, cold drinks in hot glasses!!! Having said that, would definately holiday there again xx

Just returned from a great 2 weeks at this hotel, travelling with family age range 12 - 82 years. All in all good hotel, food very plentiful we found at least one main course that was great (I am a chef and normally can not do this). Rooms are clean and cleaned and bedding and towels changed daily. I agree cold drinks onto hot glasses is not good. Two barmen on duty in the evening George and Sam, both great fun and always smiling, there we queues but only for about 10 mins max not the 30mins as stated on TripAdvisor. Miki and Madga the animation team were great with all sorts of activities throughout the day Sat - Thurs on Friday NO entertainment as it is their day off not even music by the pool which was a bit of a let down.
Friday evening is Greek Night the first Friday was great, even though we missed half the show as it was in the restaurant and by that time we were in the bar were the entertainment usually was, but what we did see looked fun. On our second Friday we had the Greek food (moussaka great), but no entertainment at all.
Overall this was great holiday and would return again.

hotel is very nice, the staff are very attentive and friendly. food is ok we always found something to eat. only 2 types of cocktails on the all inclusive. could do with a couple of little extras like pool side towels and tables for the pool loungers. Kolmbia is bit run down, its easy to get about the locl buts stops right outside the hotel 3.5 euro to either Rhodes town or Lindos, time table available at reception. all in all a good relaxing holiday, enjoy.

Just come back from a week at this hotel!, it is by no way a 4 star hotel more like a 2. Rooms very basic & not cleaned to a very good standard. No clean towels each day - the towels we did have we're old & grey. The food was ok. Bar staff were the rudest people I have ever met. The only alcoholic drinks available during the day was wine or beer. The bar was meant to open at 5pm but it depended on when the safe wanted to turn up. The local drinks were very poor. When making the cocktails theydidnt always put alcohol in them - if they were challenged about this they just laughed. The soap I the toilets was watered down & the paper towels was empty all week. The beach was not 850m away it is much much further. Would not recommend this hotel.
