Our opinion: A great value-for-money choice for a relaxing family holiday in a beautiful spot.
The comfortable self-catering Anthemis apartments offer excellent value for money for a laid-back family holiday which enjoys a great location and relaxing atmosphere. Occupying an elevated position in the midst of sweet-smelling pine and palm trees, and just 200 metres from the beach, stunning views of the bay are to be had from front-facing rooms. The pretty swimming pool and sunbathing terrace which overlook the treetops and houses further down offers the panorama too and, with a bar on hand bringing cooling drinks and snacks , it's a great place to spend a lazy day in the sunshine.
The staff are helpful and friendly and the simply furnished apartments are cleaned daily. Each includes a furnished balcony, ideal for a quiet read or a romantic meal for two. Start the day off with breakfast which can be ordered from reception and, if your not spending it poolside, take a wander down to to Gagou beach, with its convenient taverna. Samos Town, just a km away, is where things liven up. Here you'll discover the tavernas and shops around the bustling harbour front. Traditional coffee shops offer a welcome seat to watch the world stroll by and there are many attractions here to make the day whizz past, from museums to markets, boutiques and beautiful Venetian mansions. Finish off with an authentic Greek meal at one of the many waterfront establishments before heading back to the Anthemis to round the day off with a cocktail or two at sunset.
