Our opinion:
Get away from it all at the Amalia Apartments, with green surroundings and a friendly rool area.
In a rural location through a pine forest a short distance from the main road to Koukounaries , this delightful complex of apartments, studios and maisonettes is set among lovely gardens with a real get-away-from-it-all feel.
In attractive white-washed buildings, simple but comfy apartments with dark woods, white linen and diaphanous curtains at French windows offer a cool retreat from the heat. Outside are a swimming pool, sun terrace and bar manned by George, the extraovert owner. Join in karaoke, pool, table football, darts, or be a Sky Sports spectator.
Safe and sandy Koukounaries beach is just over a km away with tavernas on the way and enchanting Skiathos Town can easily be reached on a pleasant bus ride. On late nights in town, it's recommended you take a torch to help find your way back .
Lively open-air pool bar open from the late morning onwards.

Yet again this year we went to the Amalia apartments for our 2 week holiday. Last year when we arrived it was as if we hadn't been away. we were welcomed by the staff as warmly as relatives, which is good because we now think of the Amalia as our second home.It wasn't long before we were swapping stories about the island and the apartments with those who had been there a week and the other newcomers. the apartments have not changed, they are very basic but adequate there is not a lot to do during the day apart from sunbathe by the pool or on one of the 60 or so beaches- koukounaries being my favourite. George the owner still has the cheapest bar on the island and Otis his brother can conjour up almost any cocktail you can think of and play 99.9% of all music requests.About once or twice a week George will organise a party quiz night, BBQ, film, or just a fun night. Some guests do not appreciate others having fun and enjoying themselves on holiday and luckily these people do not come back but it ensures that when we do go we always see people who we have met before and other repeat visitors in fact there is an unofficial fan group called the Amalia gang who go at least twice per year. SO if you want a friendly holiday with lots of memories and new friends then go to the Amalia and if you want a quiet holiday to keep yourself to yourself and be a total bore then stay away and make room for more party people

We stayed here in July, basic but absolutely fine. Lovely location, some absolutely gorgeous beaches 30/40 mins walk away, through woods, really pretty. The nearby lake and main beach part of a conservation area, and is breathtaking. Main road runs all along island into Skiathos, numerous bus stops, and lovely beaches at pretty much every one. First time to Skiathos, and thought was one of most beautiful islands been to.

We have just returned from a week at the Amalia Apartments in Koukounaries and have had an excellent and relaxing time. They are a five minute walk from the main round which means there is no road noise and no security problems. There is a pool and the Koukounaies beach is only a ten minute walk and you can ealk to eight other beaches within 30/40 minutes. The pool bar is run by the owner George with help from his brother Fotis and they are excelent hosts and have any music or drinks you may desire and it is also rumoured to be the cheapest bar on the island. For food there is a small supermarket at the end of the road and many tavernas within a short walk or you can take the bus for the 25 minute ride into Skiathos town. They were running every 15 minutes and you can wonder down the main shopping street or the lovely side streets and the harbour and eat in one of the many tavernas there. Later you can return to George's bar for a nightcap or two and chat to the other guests or George and Fotis. The music is varied and I've not managed to find a song they don't have. We will definitely be returning there year. A superb holiday.
