The village of Glossa where no cars are allowed, great views, narrow historic streets, a small church and cafe at the summit of the town.

The village of Klima was destroyed in 1965 but has been renovated it. It's fairly small but very enchanting.

The graves of Sedoukia lie next to the 700 metre high mountain Delphi. They are pre-historic graves and we recommend a visit during your stay.

Visit the 2 monasteries on the left side of Skopelos in the hills. Nuns still live within and are very happy to meet visitors. They are called the Evangelistra and Prodromos.

The folklore Museum is exhibiting various fine handiworks from the late 19th and 20th century (embroidery, weaving and handicraft work, especially ceramics, knives, woodcarvings and agricultural tools).

Things to do on a Holiday in Skopelos

Eating/Drinking During Skopelos Holidays

Greece holidays are truly a paradise for food lovers; speciality dishes include keftedes (meatballs with oregano and mint), dolmades (rice and herbs wrapped in vine leaves) and souvlaki (grilled skewers of meat). Try a Greek meze (a selection of different Greek dishes to taste a little of everything). To compliment your meal, restaurants offer a number of delicious, inexpensive local wines varying from area to area. Or try a glass of ouzo, Greece's national drink.

Major resorts provide a wide variety of bars and restaurants with something to suit all tastes, from all-night discos and international restaurants to cosy little tavernas serving typical Greek fare. Nightlife in the smaller resorts tends to centre round the latter where the charm lies in their authenticity and more traditional feel.

Buses run the main route every half-hour in the high season beginning in Skopelos Town and making stops at Stafilos, Agnondas, Panormos, the Adrina Beach Hotel, Milia, Elios, Klima, Glossa, and Loutraki. The fare from Skopelosto Glossa is about 2 Euros.

By Taxi: Taxis will provide service to almost any place on the island. They are not metered so negotiate the fare before accepting a ride. A typical fare, from Skopelos to Glossa is around 25 Euros.

By Boat: To visit the more isolated beaches, take one of the large excursion boats. Excursion boats to Glisteri, Gliphoneri, and Sares beaches operate only in peak season. From the port of Agnondas, on the south coast, there are fishing boats to Limnonari, one of the island's better beaches.

Skopelos Holidays Shopping

All over the island honey is collected and sold in small stores and supermarkets. The olive press in Glossa collects and sells olive oils in attractive bottles.

There are several families on the island who collect fruits (plums, cherries) and make sweets from them. It is called in Greece "one spoonful of sweetness" and it is served on a small plate with a small spoon with the fruit and with a small cup of Greek coffee.

There is one shop which sells just those products; plums, cherries, oranges, mandarin, grapes, figs, quince and courgettes in syrup.

Beautiful pottery can be found where plates, jars, cups are all hand painted in all the colours of the rainbow.
