Map of Skopelos

Places of Interest

  • The village of Glossa where no cars are allowed, great views, narrow historic streets, a small church and cafe at the summit of the town.

  • The village of Klima was destroyed in 1965 but has been renovated it. It's fairly small but very enchanting.

  • The graves of Sedoukia lie next to the 700 metre high mountain Delphi. They are pre-historic graves and we recommend a visit during your stay.

  • Visit the 2 monasteries on the left side of Skopelos in the hills. Nuns still live within and are very happy to meet visitors. They are called the Evangelistra and Prodromos.

  • The folklore Museum is exhibiting various fine handiworks from the late 19th and 20th century (embroidery, weaving and handicraft work, especially ceramics, knives, woodcarvings and agricultural tools).

Beaches

  • Stafylos - Close to Skopelos town with a traditional taverna.

  • Agnondas - A small, quaint fishing port.

  • Limnonari - A white and sandy beach with two taverna's on the beach.

  • Panormos - Several taverna's and a small supermarkets.

  • Kastani - A very picturesque beach situated within a cove. More remote than the other spots. (Most of the beaches in Skopelos offer sunbeds and umbrellas for hire.)

Activities

  • Skopelos is an island suited to walkers and hikers, with its numerous footpaths and organised trails. There are guided walks available for those that are keen to discover the best routes available.

Things to Buy

  • All over the island honey is collected and sold in small stores and
    supermarkets.

  • The olive press in Glossa collects and sells olive oils in attractive bottles.

  • There are several families on the island who collect fruits (plums, cherries) and make sweets from them. It is called in Greece "one spoonful of sweetness" and it is served on a small plate with a small spoon with the fruit and with a small cup of Greek coffee.

  • There is one shop which sells just those products; plums, cherries, oranges, mandarin, grapes, figs, quince and courgettes in syrup.

  • Beautiful pottery can be found where plates, jars, cups are all hand painted in all the colours of the rainbow.
