Goa: has received funding of £10,000 for their Children’s Resource Centre in Mapusa. Without this money, the Resource Centre would have closed. The donation from our childcare fund has enabled them to continue operating for at least another year. The charity is involved in child protection and the advocacy of children’s rights in Goa. The Children’s Resource Centre is a vital safe haven for “street” children to visit, providing health check ups, reading and writing classes, vocational training courses and safety education. Cyprus: has received €13,350 from our childcare fund. This amount has been used to purchase a vehicle for the charity. The charity in Cyprus is run by volunteers who provide care for children with special needs as well as maintaining and offering a day centre which specialises in educational and training programmes for the children, the main target of which is to offer them a better life. Identifying needy and worthwhile causes in our overseas destinations requires a tremendous amount of time and hard work to ensure that your contributions will be utilised in the best way possible and for the right reasons. | |

Olympic Holidays has donated screening equipment, the only one of its kind in Egypt, to Cairo University, enabling more people to be screened for thalassaemia, a deadly blood disorder that affects millions in the Middle East and Asia. The chromatography machine – the most technologically advanced in this field - cost more than £40,000 and was presented to the Egyptian people just before Christmas by Nicos Mylonas, Overseas Director of Olympic Holidays. "Our Child Care Fund supports child-related charities both in the UK and at our key holiday destinations," says David Wilson, Director in charge of Olympic's Child Care Fund. "Thousands of Egyptian children are born with thalassaemia every year and most will die in childhood: treatment of this debilitating illness includes regular, life-long blood transfusions.
