Our opinion: Super value in a great spot, the Tiburon Hotel gives you the best of Torremolinos at a recession-busting price.
The Tiburon Hotel, in the narrow streets of Carihuela, is an unpretentious, typically Spanish establishment. Accommodation here may be basic, but it's spotlessly clean, comfortable and brilliant value. And the welcome is a warm one. In the inviting reception, the staff are on hand to help out, eager to ensure you have a holiday to remember. From here walk through to the main lounge where a pool table and snack bar promise the odd laid back afternoon or evening with friends, and the traditional breakfast room downstairs is where each day kicks off with a scrumptious selection. Outside is a sweet, rectangular swimming pool and sun terrace accommodating a number of sunbeds.
It would be hard to better the location, just 50 metres from the beach, in the peaceful suburb of Montemar with restaurants and bars close by. The Marina is a short distance away where your choice of bars and restaurants is further expanded. There's plenty to do in the resort too, with great golf courses and shopping and the two main long, sandy beaches, La Carihuela and Bajondillo, offer watersports including windsurfing, paragliding, and waterskiing. If children are in your party, Tivoli World adventure park, or the Crocodile park are great for a day out. The area has retained much of its fishing-port atmosphere, with good seafront fish restaurants and plenty of bars. After dinner, why not enjoy a walk along the promenade which runs all the way to Benalmadena and, if you've energy to spare, entertainment in town is fast-paced, ranging from live music and shows to nightclubs and bars.
