Eating/Drinking During Carvoeiro Holidays

With over 200km of coastline, its not surprising that the fish and seafood are a staple part of the diet for people in the Algarve. With daily fishing trips bringing in huge amounts of fresh sardines, tuna, bream, cod, monkfish and many other types of fish; plentiful supplies of clams, oysters, prawns, not to mention octopus and squid, it's easy to understand why.

Fish and shellfish feature prominently on the menus with fish stews and grilled sardines being firm favourites. Chicken piri piri is another traditional dish that should not be missed. Wines are an excellent accompaniment to dinner, while the almond liqueur or, for chocolate lovers the Alfarroba liqueur, is a great way to relax at the end of the day.

Nightlife in Carvoeiro is fairly lively with many pubs, music bars and a few discos. There are excellent restaurants where evenings can be enjoyed in a more intimate atmosphere.

Getting Around on Carvoeiro Holidays

The only way to get to Carvoeiro with public transportation from Faro airport is by taking the bus from the airport to the bus terminal in Faro. Then take a bus to Lagoa (direction: Lagos) followed by a third bus from Lagoa bus terminal to Carvoeiro.

The tourist train ('comboio turístico') is a great way to travel around a town and helps visitors to get a feel for an area, which can be really useful on arrival, as well as providing cheap travel throughout a holiday.
