Our opinion: Good value, comfy accommodation in a quiet location close to the resort of Vilamoura.
The welcoming Rio Apartments are set in the midst of a beautiful, extensive green area where pines, palms and pretty shrubs cast shadows across the lawn, making a tranquil oasis for sunbathing and chilling out. The swimming pools for adults and children are here, kept nice and cold to bring the temperature back down when the sun is skin-scorchingly hot. Cool off from the inside with chilled drinks from the pool bar, too.
The apartments are simple but comfortably furnished in seaside colours and are cleaned on a daily basis. All you need for a relaxing, self-catered holiday is provided, and obliging staff are on hand to help out if they've missed something. Roomy kitchen cupboards will accommodate provisions purchased from local shops but let someone else do the cooking every now and then, and pay a visit to the restaurant on-site which caters for all the main meals with a range of international dishes. You can also get snacks from the pool bar.
The Rio Apartments are a great value-for-money choice for a low cost holiday in the beautiful Algarve. There's plenty to see and do in the vicinity. Why not rent a bicycle and get some exercise while riding along to Falesia beach and Vilamoura marina. Jet skiing and boat trips are both options to get out on the water and golf lovers are spoilt for choice with the Pinhal Golf Course only 200 metres away - one among many in the area.
