Medieval Festival, Rhodes

Medieval Festival, Rhodes

Known as the Medieval Rose Festival, and described as a ‘living history event’, this fascinating festival starts at the end of May and carries on, during weekends only, throughout most of June.

The Old Town of Rhodes won fame as the last fortress to stand against the mighty Ottoman Empire. It’s the perfect, wonderfully atmospheric setting for a medieval fair – the modern inhabitants live in the same houses that were used by the Knights of St John 600 years ago.

Historians, archaeologists, actors, artists, musicians and craftsmen unite to bring the days of old back to life, with parades and pageantry, sword-fighting, archery, horse-riding, falconry…plus fairies, witches and even dragons!

Other resorts across the island will join in the fun, holding their own medieval Fayres featuring live music, traditional feasts and a host of fascinating events and activities.
