Holidays in Hammamet
Our opinion: "Hammamet, the "Tunisian Saint Tropez"" Hammamet at a glance:- Finest beach resorts
- Cosmopolitan resort
- Fashionable boutiques
Hammamet, the "Tunisian Saint Tropez", is all this and more. Its a way of life, taking the time to relax , meet old friends and make new ones. It's fishermen in brightly painted boats setting out at dawn, the medina surrounded by its ramparts and crowned by an ancient fort overlooking the sea, fashionable boutiques where resplendent traditional tunics and caftans rival the shimmering sun. Here the fine beaches turn the right way, to the south, allowing you to sunbathe and watch the sea at the same time. Known as the "garden resort" it is backed by olive, orange and lemon groves and lines of cypress trees. Hammamet's centre is a miniature cape jutting out into the sea with the well preserved 13th century Kasbah offering pleasing views over the gleaming domes of the Medina (the old walled city) and the white sands of the coastline. The newer quarters of Hammamet with shops, cafes and restaurants spread out from the Medina. Hammamet is a well-adjusted port to Tunisia for many people. Many tourists go for comfort and fun, and then Hammamet is among the best choices of Tunisia. And if anyone would like to go on excursions, Hammamet is close to many things. - Vast sandy beaches
- Local culture
- Wateraports
