Turgutreis, the region's second largest town, is surrounded by hills and mountains on one side and the sea on the other. A coarse sand beach runs from the resort centre along the peninsula, with plenty of sunloungers and parasols available. Relaxing cafes, bars and restaurants circle the main square, which on Saturdays is home to the largest market on the Aegean coast. Turgutreis has managed to retain its traditional Turkish charm whilst the new marina injects a more cosmopolitan atmosphere and broadens the resort's appeal.
