Kusadasi Holidays - Things to see
Ephesus: Very close proximity to this famous ancient site which was one of the great cities of the Greeks in Asia Minor. It is home to the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
The Caravanserai: - beautifully restored Ottoman palace/castle built originally in 1618. There remain a few 19th century half-timbered houses, built in the region's appealing architectural style - and a fascinating glimpse into the region's history.
Pigeon Island: - close to the bustling harbour features a tower: the solitary remains of what was a 13th century Byzantine castle. This fortress became famous during the 16th century as a base for the exploits of the pirate Barbarossa.
An impressive collection of Ottoman and Turkish mosques - located in the centre of the old town. "The Fortress Mosque", built by in the 17th century, is the most impressive and monumental of them all.
The House of the Virgin Mary is also a fascinating place to visit, see the Virgin Mary's house where she spent her last days.
Things to do on a Holiday in Kusadasi
- Stroll around the ancient heart of the city absorbing the rich history of the old town
- Take an exhilarating jeep safari into the mountains
- Windsurfing, waterskiing, sailing and beach volleyball, jet-ski, diving or snorkelling is all readily available along the miles of golden sandy beaches
- Horse Safaris are increasingly popular, and a great way to enjoy the city and the surrounding countryside at a leisurely pace.
- The resort also has three excellent water parks and we would recommend the Aqua Fantasy.
- The cuisine is among the best in Turkey. For sheer choice, the old town is hard to beat, with its atmospheric, traditional cafes (lockantas.)
- Many restaurants strung out along Bar Street and Ataturk Boulevard the waterfront promenade. Everything from Turkish mezes to Chinese, seafood to pizzas they're all readily available, and, because Kusadasi is a real working town, they don't shut up shop for winter!
