Travelling to Italy and the Italian Islands
Everything you need to know before you go
This page gives specific information about travelling to Italy. Please also see our main Travelling with Confidence section for general information and details about arriving back in the UK after your holiday.
Travel restrictions and entry requirements are in place for most countries and can change with little notice. It is your responsibility to check the relevant local government websites and comply with all up to date entry requirements for your destination before you travel.
Current requirements for travelling to Italy
- Passengers holding a COVID-19 vaccination certificate are exempt from presenting a negative PCR test on arrival. Proof of two COVID-19 vaccinations completed at least 14 days before travel. If you live in England, Italy will accept the NHS app or your NHS letter to demonstrate your COVID-19 vaccination status. You should not use your NHS vaccine appointment card to demonstrate your vaccine status. Failure to provide proof of either may result in your carrier not allowing you to travel.
- If you're not fully vaccinated - Undergo a PCR test which tests negative 72 hours before your departure date and time, or rapid lateral flow test taken 48 hours before entering Italy. Children under the age of 6 are exempt.
Please refer to UK Government Foreign Travel Advice website for further updates. We recommend that you sign up for the FCDO travel advice email alert, so you automatically receive the latest travel alert for the destination you are travelling to. You must have adequate travel insurance in place for your holiday.
