If you are seeking the ultimate in holiday luxury in the Aegean, call off the search. The Sea Side Resort and Spa resembles a 21st century take on ancient Greece, with minimalist clean lines in natural materials. The hotel is wrapped around the headland like a figurehead on the prow of a ship, with views out over the sea which will take your breath away.
There are cool, turquoise pools for relaxation at the upper level with panoramic views. Yet another is in the spa where massage and beauty treatments are available and equipment to maintain your fitness regime. Exercise and yoga classes also take place in the Asana fitness centre and, if you're feeling competitive, tennis, basketball and padel courts are on the agenda.
The main restaurant includes a stunning, large veranda overlooking the bay of Mononaftis. Here buffets are spread for the three meals of the day. Local cuisine and international dishes are served, with entertaining cookery demonstrations scheduled in too. With three bars to choose from, two poolside, you'll be able to ring the changes for morning coffee, afternoon tea and evening cocktails before selecting your favourite spot. Among the best that Crete has to offer, the hotel is in a quiet area 25km west of Heraklion city centre and just 80 metres from the beach of Mononaftis.

Dinner (18:30-21:30) consists of seven different theme nights at the Veranda Main restaurant. Buffet includes theme cuisine (according to night), different salads, cold and hot starters, live cooking, fruits, icre-cream and pastries. The a la carte restaurant is the Minoan Crete restaurant (19:00-20:00). Snacks available from the Pool Bar Pelagos and Thalassa (11:00-17:00).
