The peaceful retreat of Sun Studios, close to two fine beaches and fascinating heritage sites, is perfect for an affordable, flexible and welcoming Greek island escape.
Clean, comfortable and ideally placed near a sandy beach and the village square, the Sun Studios, in Lindos, Rhodes, provides an excellent self-catering base for those seeking holiday flexibility on a budget.
The spacious, brightly-painted studios are a peaceful retreat on a side street in the quieter part of Lindos, but only a five-minute walk from the centre of the village, with its shops, bars and restaurants, as well as being within walking distance of two fine beaches.
Each well-kept studio can sleep up to three people and all are fully air-conditioned, at a local fee. Each has a kitchenette with a two-ring hob, fridge, kettle, crockery, glassware and cooking utensils, and a bathroom with a shower. One room has a Lindian-style platform bed, while one studio is off the main courtyard at the side. A torch is recommended for returning to the accommodation at night.
The friendly owners are renowned for a warm welcome and a maid service is provided six days a week. The complex has a shared courtyard with tables and chairs, providing a convivial meeting place for guests to share a coffee, wine or beer.
Both the main beach and nearby Pallas Beach, which is smaller and quieter, have sunbeds and umbrellas to hire, and tavernas nearby. The shallower shoreline at Pallas is popular with younger children.
The whitewashed homes of Lindos stand on a hillside overlooking a beautiful bay. Heritage sites in the area include the acropolis at the summit of the hill, to which donkey rides can be taken, and the ruins of the Doric temple of Athena Lindia, and an amphitheatre carved into the hillside.
