A traditional style hotel well equipped for a relaxing break.
Breakfast eggs from the owner’s chickens, a gentle serenade from goats and donkeys, and the possibility of meeting a tortoise during a wander in beautiful countryside add to the charm of a holiday at the Taxiarchis Apartments, Symi.
A traditional, family-run property offering the warmest of welcomes, the Taxiarchis Apartments offer clean, spacious, light, comfortable rooms in a quiet part of Symi, yet within walking distance of Pedi Bay and the centre of the village of Chorio.
Each room has a sofa, TV and kitchenette with a fridge including a small freezer compartment, kettle, cooking hob and utensils, and a furnished balcony or terrace, as well as wifi access. Air-conditioning is chargeable.
Breakfast can be taken on the terrace with views down to the stunning bay, where the Aegean sparkles. All around is greenery and tropical flora, as well as windmills, historic ruins and mountain scenery.
The village has excellent cafes and restaurants, a supermarket, bakery and patisserie, and fruit and vegetable shops. The hotel is in a steep location but there is a good bus service for guests who prefer not to walk.
The apartments also have a small library and a pretty courtyard with tables and chairs - a lovely space to sit and read with the sun dappling your skin and superb, panoramic views.
You will find the shingle beach is a 20-minute walk or a short bus ride from the village, and has glistening waters, popular for snorkelling, glorious scenery and natural shade from tamarisk trees. There are more good restaurants nearby, including some specialising in seafood.
With its hilly location, this hotel is not recommended for those with walking difficulties.
Luggage will be dropped off at the nearest possible point. Guests will be responsible for their own luggage.
