Although Catholic or Anglican weddings are not possible in Greece, you are free to hold your civil wedding in certain parts of mainland Greece and 10 of her islands.
To marry in Greece you will need to be on the island of your choice for between 7-9 days before you have your ceremony. This allows time to arrange your official visits to the registrar and finalise all your other arrangements, including any receptions. You will need to take documents that have been legalised by the the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and translated into Greek (except for Rhodes, where you will pay for the translations in resort) before you go.
It is a fairly straight forward process and we're here to help you with each step.
It is possible, nonetheless, to give your wedding a more traditional feel by holding your civil wedding alongside one of Greece’s beguiling little chapels, creating an enchanting setting for the day. Many are situated in spots where the views are simply stunning, and so the panorama of your photographs – and your memories – is exceptional.
With our extensive knowledge, Olympic Weddings has been able to handpick some of the most picturesque venues and chapels for your wedding in Greece. Many ceremonies take place outside, with fantastic views to enjoy as you exchange your vows.
The wedding can be as simple or as elegant as you like with, for example, white covered chairs for your guests, pretty lanterns, flower arches, a red carpet, or, in keeping with Greek traditions, arrival at the ceremony venue accompanied by local musicians. The choice is yours to make it the wedding you have always dreamt of and more.
Olympic Weddings also offer 'Wedding Only' for those of you that want the flexibility of booking your own holiday and letting us take care of everything else. Contact us for more details.
