Itinerary

Day 1 - Athens

Arrive in Athens and be ready to explore! Get some tips from your local guide about the liveliest bars and tavernas before enjoying a good night’s rest. We recommend departing the UK in the morning to make the most of the afternoon in Athens.

Day 2 - Tour & shop

An in-depth morning tour observes the contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. There’s free time in the afternoon and shoppers will find Ermou street the best for retail therapy. In the evening, transfer to Plaka for dinner at a traditional Greek taverna with a folk show. Return to the hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 3 - Epidaurus & Olympia

After breakfast depart for Argolis with a short stop near the Corinth Canal before visiting the Theatre of Epidaurus which is famous for its remarkable acoustics. Move on to the Town of Nafplion before driving to Mycenae. Travel on to Olympia, the cradle of the ancient Olympic Games, for your overnight hotel stay.

Day 4 - Zeus

In the morning visit the archaeological site with the sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium and the Archaeological Museum on the itinerary. Next, look forward to Delphi, passing Patras and the magnificent bridge from Rion to Antirion before arriving for your overnight stay is in Delphi.

Day 5 - Delphi

In the morning delight at the beautifully preserved archaeological site on the mountainside and visit the superb modern archaeological museum which holds treasures that bring the ancient site to life. Highlights include the Charioteer, a masterpiece of classical art sculpted in bronze and the Sphinx of the Naxos, from 560 BC, one of the earliest representations in art of the demonic creature with a lion's body, bird’s wings and a woman's head. Continue onto Kalambaka where you'll spent the night.​

Day 6 - Meteora

​After breakfast, the Mete​ora monasteries are on the itinerary. The most recognisable to film fans is Moni Agias Triados, which featured in the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only, while Moni Agias Varvaras Rousanou is dramatically perched on a towering rock. Here the convent has an intimate atmosphere and nuns talk to visitors and selling their jam and honey. Return back to Athens where you'll spend the night.

Day 7 - Island cruise

On Day Seven, a highlight full-day cruise to the Saronic Gulf islands with short stops on the islands of Egina, Poros and Hydra is a lovely way to wind down with lunch served on board the boat. Head back to your overnight accommodation in Athens. 

Day 8 - Transfer to airport or extend your stay

Today's the final day of your tour so why not extend your stay in Greece with a visit to one of our islands. Airport departure transfer is included if required.

Accommodation: Choice of 3, 4 or 5 star hotel. Please note: Guests who book the 5 star hotel option will be placed into the 4 star hotel option outside of Athens. 

Start Days: Thursday, Saturdays and Sundays

Meals: As mentioned throughout the itinerary. 7 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 1 dinner.
