Paphos

Paphos

Mark Twain once said: “There was but one solitary thing about the past worth remembering, and that was the fact that it is past and can't be restored.”

Twain was right in many respects but a wedding memory made in Paphos will never be forgotten – it is, after all, the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Beauty, who is said to have been the foam in the coastal waters.

Paphos is now one of the most established resorts in Cyprus with range of venues for your romantic wedding or renewal of vows. Apart from the luxurious hotels and resorts, a simple ceremony can be held at the elegant town hall, with its lovely hall and pretty courtyard.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Paphos, with its world-famous mosaics and the Tomb of the Kings, was the European Capital of Culture in 2017. The charming harbour by the medieval port is lined with delightful tavernas, and the seafront, mostly pedestrianised and ideal for a hand-in-hand stroll, has designer shops, bars, coffee houses and restaurants. During the summer opera festival, you could even find yourselves being serenaded as you dine.

Sun-worshippers will love the gently sloping sands and sparkling, clear waters of Coral Bay, which also attract keen swimmers, divers and other watersports enthusiasts, while the Kato Paphos area is the holiday hotspot with lively nightlife.

Other attractions include the Aphrodite Waterpark, packed with rides and dramatic slides like the cannon drop, and the family-owned Tsangarides Winery in Lemona, where the harvest benefits from warm days and cool nights.

Olympic Holidays’ specialist wedding team know the resorts, hotels and town halls like the back of their hand so if you are settled on this southwest coast city, on the Mediterranean, take a look at our venues and contact the team to drill down on the details.
