Chloe and Chris first met at University. They’d already both developed a real passion and interest in travel; Chloe’s particular love for Greece starting on family holidays to the islands. So, when they left University, they took some time out to explore the world together. 5 years later and they’re now planning what will probably be a holiday of a lifetime – their honeymoon - as Chris proposed to Chloe on Kos! We love a bit of romance so it was great to hear about their holiday to Kos and what they loved most about the 2nd largest inhabited island in the Dodecanese...

We wanted to hear all about the proposal first though. Chloe tells us it came as a complete surprise! They’d had a wonderful day on Paradise Beach; one of the best beaches in Kos, although it has to be said, Kos is not short on great beaches to choose from. Chris suggested that they went up to Asfendiou Village which is famous for being one of the best places to watch the sunset. It offers spectacular views to the island of Kalymnos. They chose a restaurant and settled down to enjoy some traditional Greek food and a cold Mythos - their favourite Greek beer and it was while they were enjoying a spectacular sunset that Chris popped the question. Ahhh!
Chloe and Chris both work long hours and their day-to-day lives are quite busy so making the most of their time away on holiday is essential to them. Chris recommends hiring a car to get out and about to the many great bays and hidden coves. Their adventures took them not only to Zia, but further into the mountains, where they discovered more beautiful scenery on pine-covered Mount Dikeos, with its picturesque castles. They went horseback riding in the mountains, had fun in and on the sea enjoying lots of watersports and visited the Ancient Roman site of Asklepion.
Outside the office, they both like to read about the places they are travelling to. Chloe says that living the local life and exploring the great outdoors is what they love most about their trips abroad and that islands like Kos are just perfect for this type of holiday.
They had plenty of fun in the evenings too. Kos is a great island for partying, so after making the most of the long days and getting plenty of sun, they spent their evenings enjoying the bars, especially in Kardamena. They peppered this with quieter more chilled out evenings too; staying on the beach until the sun went down and then enjoying a few cocktails in the beach bars.
One thing’s for sure, they’re unlikely to forget their holiday to the island of Kos and maybe they’ll even return one day with little ones in tow! Before that though…there’s plenty more Olympic islands for them to visit.
