Aegina offers a wide variety of beaches, ranging from organised family-friendly resorts to quiet coves hidden beneath pine trees. Because the island is relatively small, visitors can easily explore several beaches in a single day.
Agia Marina
On the eastern side of the island, Agia Marina is the largest and most popular beach resort on Aegina. The beach is long and sandy with shallow, clear water, making it especially suitable for families and swimmers. Hotels, tavernas, cafés and water sports facilities line the waterfront, giving the area a lively summer atmosphere. Nearby pine forests provide shade and a greener landscape than many Saronic beaches.
Marathonas
Only a short drive from Aegina Town, Marathonas consists of two adjacent sandy beaches facing west toward the sunset. The water is calm and shallow, and the beaches are well organised with sunbeds, tavernas and beach bars. Marathonas is especially popular with Athenians on weekend visits because it combines convenience with attractive sea views.
Perdika and Moni
The fishing village of Perdika itself has rocky swimming spots and small coves, but most visitors come here to take boats across to nearby Moni Island. Moni is famous for transparent turquoise water, pine trees reaching the sea and peaceful beaches surrounded by nature. Snorkeling is excellent, and visitors often see peacocks and deer wandering through the island’s woodland
Souvala
On the northern coast, Souvala combines a small seaside resort with beaches known for calm water and a relaxed atmosphere. The area is also associated with natural thermal springs that were historically used for therapeutic bathing. Souvala is quieter than Agia Marina and appeals to visitors looking for a slower pace.
Vagia
Vagia is a smaller and more peaceful beach east of Souvala. It has coarse sand and pebbles, crystal-clear water and fewer crowds than the better-known beaches. Traditional tavernas and pine-covered hills give the area a more authentic village atmosphere.
Klima
Near the Temple of Aphaia lies Klima, a quiet beach favoured by locals. The coastline here is more natural and less organised, with clear water ideal for snorkeling. The setting feels more secluded, particularly outside the high summer season.
Kolona
Very close to Aegina Town is Kolona Beach, named after the nearby archaeological site with its single standing ancient column. The beach offers sandy stretches and views back toward the harbour and ancient ruins, combining swimming with historical scenery.
