Parga has some of the nicest beaches on the mainland, and they’re quite easy to compare because each one has a very different feel. The water is clear, calm, and usually easy to walk into, which makes it one of the best swimming spots in northern Greece.

Here are the best ones, simply explained:

Valtos

This is the main beach and the one you’ll probably use most. It’s long, wide, and sandy with some pebbles, and sits just around the corner from the town under the castle. The water is clear and calm, and there are loads of beach bars and restaurants, so it’s perfect for a full day.

Lichnos

A step up in beauty. It’s a bit outside town but worth it because it’s more scenic, with deep blue water, green hills and a more relaxed feel. It’s great for swimming, snorkelling, and even exploring small sea caves nearby.

Sarakiniko

This is the “pretty cove” beach. Small bay, surrounded by greenery, with a mix of sand and pebbles and really clear water. It’s quieter than Valtos and feels more tucked away.

Krioneri

Right in Parga town. It’s the easiest option if you just want a quick swim. The water is shallow and clear, and it’s very convenient, but it’s small and can get busy.

Piso Krioneri

Just behind the main town beach. Smaller, calmer, and often less crowded, with beautiful turquoise water in a little sheltered cove.

Ai Yannaki

A bit more hidden and less organised. It has emerald-clear water and is great for snorkelling, especially if you want somewhere quieter without beach bars.

Ammoudia (nearby)

Not technically in Parga but close. It’s sandy, very wide, and shallow, so it’s ideal if you want an easier, more open beach rather than a small cove.

What Parga is like overall

You get a mix of long sandy beaches like Valtos and Lichnos plus smaller coves like Sarakiniko and Piso Krioneri, all with very clear Ionian water.

It’s a bit more “classic Greek seaside” than Sivota, and slightly more lively, but still much calmer than most islands.
