Around Parga you’ve got a lovely mix of small seaside resorts, traditional villages, and slightly livelier coastal spots, all within fairly easy reach.

If you head north along the coast, Syvota is one of the most popular places to visit. It feels a bit more polished than Parga, with a smart marina, turquoise bays, and some of the clearest water in the area. It’s quieter in terms of nightlife but great for boat trips and swimming, especially around the tiny islands just offshore.

Going south, you’ll come across places like Ammoudia, which sits at the mouth of the Acheron River. It’s much flatter and more low‑key than Parga, with long sandy beaches and a calmer, more laid‑back vibe. From there you can actually take boat trips up the river, which is quite a different experience from the coastal scenery.

Not far inland, the Acheron Springs are worth knowing about too. The villages around Glyki and Vouvopotamos are small and very traditional, surrounded by mountains. People go there to walk in the river, do light rafting, or just cool off in the icy water—it’s a big contrast to the heat and bustle of the coast.

Closer to Parga itself, Lichnos has a handful of villas and tavernas rather than a real “town,” but it’s one of the prettiest beach areas nearby and has a slightly more secluded, upmarket feel. Further along you’ve got Sarakiniko, which is even quieter and feels more like a hidden cove than a resort.

If you’re up for a slightly longer drive, Preveza is the nearest proper town with more of a local Greek feel, a marina, and a nice old centre for evenings out. Just beyond that, Lefkada island is also possible as a day trip, especially for its dramatic beaches, though it’s a bit more of a journey compared to the smaller nearby spots.

Overall, the area around Parga isn’t about big resort towns—it’s more about small, scenic places, each with a slightly different pace, so you can easily mix quiet beaches, local villages, and a touch of marina-style atmosphere depending on what you feel like that day.
