Organised excursions from Parga are very popular and easy to book, either through hotels, local travel agents in town, or on the harbour front. Most follow a similar set of routes, so once you know the main options it’s easy to choose what suits you.

Boat trips are probably the most popular. Full‑day cruises to Paxos and Antipaxos leave directly from Parga harbour and usually include stops at the famous Blue Caves, swimming spots, and a couple of hours in one of the small island towns like Gaios or Lakka. It’s a fairly relaxed day out and one of the best ways to see that part of the Ionian coast without driving anywhere.

Another very common excursion is to the Acheron River and its springs. These trips are usually by jeep or minibus and combine a few stops, including the river itself where you can walk in the cold, clear water or try light activities like rafting or kayaking. Many tours also include the ancient site of the Necromanteion, which was linked in mythology to the underworld. It’s a completely different landscape to the coast, with mountains, forests and gorges.

There are also longer day trips for people who want to see more of the region. Meteora is a big one, though it’s a long day, taking you to the famous monasteries built on top of rock pillars. There are also organised trips into Albania, usually visiting Saranda and the archaeological site of Butrint, which gives you a mix of history and a change of country for the day.

If you prefer something closer, shorter excursions run to places like Syvota, often including swimming in hidden coves and the Blue Lagoon, or coastal boat trips that hop between beaches such as Lichnos, Valtos and more remote spots. These are ideal if you don’t want a full day away.

For something a bit different but still local, there are organised trips up to Ali Pasha’s Castle above Anthousa. Some go by a little tourist train or minibus, combining the visit with time in the village and scenic viewpoints over Parga.

In general, everything is quite informal and flexible in Parga. You can usually book a day or two in advance, and most excursions include transport and a guide. The choice really comes down to whether you want a relaxed day on the water, a nature trip inland, or a longer cultural excursion further afield.
