Olympic Holidays' CEO Clare Tobin looks back over her year as Everywoman Leader of Change before 2019 awards ceremony

On the eve of the 2019 Everywoman awards, Olympic Holidays’ CEO Clare Tobin says her year as the Everywoman Leader of Change has seen ‘a myriad of developments’ across the company’s business.

Clare, who won the award for her 20 years as an advocate for advancing women in the industry travel, said: “It’s been a huge honour to carry the title Everywoman Leader of Change and over past year we Olympic Holidays have continued to grow.

"Our executive board is 50-50"

“I’m also pleased say that our overall business is now 72% female and I am continuing to focus on the ratio of men to women in key roles. Our executive board is 50-50.

“Over the last year we have grown a larger portfolio with customers who love the sunshine, beaches and culture of Greece and its islands. Our new island-hopping itineraries have been a huge success and we are creating our first ever island-hopping and mainland touring brochure very shortly. We also recognise our growing band of loyal customers are tempted by the Balearics – the bo-ho vibe of Ibiza, rolling hills and whitewashed villages of Menorca and the growing gastronomic food and wine scene in Majorca.

“Further to the increase in the Balearics, Olympic has added 120 properties to a year-round sun programme in the Canaries. For more winter sun, Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt are new options adding to choices in Cyprus, Madeira and Malta.

“We are continually fine-tuning to strengthen our place in the market and we strive to provide our customers with new, tempting destinations to explore alongside an exciting range of hotels. Our digital capabilities have also grown significantly with new in-resort app giving more flexibility and freedom to enjoy their holidays

“Every day we are streamlining, improving and increasing our credentials as island specialists has keeps us ahead in an increasingly competitive market.”

“Choice is key. We work with 30 airlines fly from 27 UK airports. The increase in product range also includes Olympic Charms – smaller, family run properties where a warm welcome is assured, to top-of-the-range luxury family properties.

“As I continue to refine the strategy at Olympic Holidays my brilliant team work hand-in-hand to achieve results – certainly communication is a key strength at Olympic because there’s been a myriad of change.”

Clare added: “It has been amazing to be recognised as a leader by a platform for women and it has spurred me on to take Olympic further forward – we are island specialist but we are aiming to be a global specialist by 2022.

“The Leader of Change Award, sponsored by Hilton, was a new category so I have been proud to carry the title – handing over the ‘baton’ to the next winner will also be an honour – to know another woman can be further inspired by recognition for her achievements in our ever-changing business.

“I wish all of the 2019 Revolut Everywoman award winners every success and hope their recognition gives them even more strength to empower women in our industry.”
