SIGHTSEEING/ACROPOLIS & ACROPOLIS MUSEUM – HALF DAY ​

This morning guided tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop). Continue and pass by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma). ​

On the Acropolis visit the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally “the harmony between material and spirit”, the monument that “puts order in the mind”, the Parthenon. Continue and visit the place where at last the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era: The Acropolis Museum.​

ATHENS CITY TOUR & CAPE SOUNION – FULL DAY (with lunch) ​

After lunch drive along the coastal road, passing the wonderful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni & Varkiza to the most Southern point of Attica, Cape Sounion, where the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon stand. On the way, you have a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf and the little islands offshore. After visiting the Temple of Poseidon, you have time to walk at leisure on the rocky promontory of Sounion.​

A NIGHT OUT in ATHENS - EVENING ​

Your evening begins with a short panoramic drive through the City Center and at the slope of the sacred hill you will be able to see, admire and photo the illuminated Acropolis. Then a pleasant walk through the narrow picturesque streets of Plaka, the old city, will bring you at a Typical Greek Tavern where you will enjoy your dinner following a floor show with live music and Greek Folk Dances in traditional costumes. N.B. Beverages during dinner in Plaka are NOT included in the price.​

CAPE SOUNION – HALF DAY (Afternoon)​

Drive along the coastal road, passing the wonderful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni & Varkiza to the most Southern point of Attica, Cape Sounion, where the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon stand. On the way, you have a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf and the little islands offshore. After visiting the Temple of Poseidon, you have time to walk at leisure on the rocky headland of Sounion.​

NAFPLION & MYCENAE - FULL DAY (including lunch)​

A unique full day trip in the province of Argolis! We leave Athens joining the coastal road until the first stop in the Corinth Canal, a unique technical achievement of the 19th century, connecting the Ionian with the Aegean Sea (short stop). ​

Then we drive to Mycenae, the citadel of one of the oldest prehistoric civilizations famous all around the world for the story of the Trojan War. This is the place from where the Greeks had set off for the expedition in Troy to get back beautiful Helene and where the golden mask of Agamemnon was found. We will see the famous Lion’s Gate, the monumental entrance, the Cyclopean Walls and the Treasury of Atreus, a monumental structure for the burial of the King. Before we depart for Nafplio, we will have a lunch break qt Mycenae. ​

The next destination is Nafplio, Napoli di Romania, one of the most beautiful cities in Greece. We will stroll around the alleys of the first capital of Greece, we will admire the local architecture, the great venetian castle of Palamidi and the stronghold of Bourtzi and the cathedral of Saint George. After a short walking tour, you will have free time on your own to enjoy the city. ​

In the afternoon, we return to Athens​

DELPHI - FULL DAY  (including lunch)​

Drive through the fertile plain of Beotia, crossing the towns of Thebes connected with the tragedy of King Oedipus – Levadia and Arachova (short stop on the way back). Arrive at Delphi, the center of Ancient World – the “Omphalos” (Navel of Earth) – whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic World. ​

On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios. Visit the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo and the Museum containing such masterpieces of Ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias. Lunch in the modern village of Delphi, return to Athens by the same route.​

ANCIENT CORINTH - HALF DAY​

Leave Athens and drive Southwest until we reach the Corinth Canal which connects the Aegean Sea with the Ionian Sea (short stop). Drive on and visit the ancient town of Corinth where St. Paul lived and preached for two years. The remains of the City, which include the Agora (market place) and Apollo’s Temple (6th century B.C.) clearly show how rich and important Corinth was in Ancient Times. A short stop at the Site of the Ancient Port of Kehries, where St. Paul disembarked, will conclude the visit. Return to Athens in time for lunch.​
