Feraklos Castle

On the Acropolis overlooking Haraki is Feraklos Castle. Feraklos Castle was built by the Knights of St. John during their 213 year-long stay on the island. From Feraklos Castle you can have a panoramic view of Haraki, the sandy beach of Agia Agathi and far to the south, the village of Lindos.

Trianda

The village of Trianda, its name meaning thirty, refers to the thirty stone houses built here by the Knights of St John in the middle ages. It can be found on the edge of the North West coast and was built on the ancient Doric town of Ialyssos. It is one of the most extensively built villages with plenty of bars, tavernas and clubs.

Kallithea Springs

Located in the bay of Kallithea, the thermal springs were well known in Ancient Greece for the beneficial healing properties of the red waters flowing from the surrounding rocks. In 1928, the first spa was constructed by Italian architect, Pietro Lombardi, whose plans made it one of the best architectural creations of the period.

Biotope of Apolakia Dam

A biotope (an area of uniform environmental conditions favouring wildlife) was naturally formed as a result of the construction of a watering dam near the village of Apolakia. A visit to the dam is a must for nature lovers for the diversity of wildlife inhabiting it; combine it with a trip to the nearby traditional village of Apolakia, and a little further on, Skiadi and Messanagros.

Prasonisi

Around 20 km further south from Lahania, the island's most southern tip is an island connected to Rhodes by a sandbank, approximately 1000 metres long. Although the track leading to Prasonisi point is a little hard going, the view into the valley is extraordinary. This is also where the two seas - the Aegean and the Mediterranean – meet.

Valley of the Butterflies

A short drive inland will take you to Petaloudes (near Kalamonas village), a scenic gorge which, from June to September is home to the rare and eye-catching Kalimorfa Butterfly. Attracted by the resin in the Storax trees, these delicate creatures flicker white, brown, black and red in flight.

Rodini Park

Rodini is reputed to be the site of the School of Rhetoric, where famous Greeks and Romans, including Julius Caesar and Pompey studied. Today, imagine them wandering amid the meandering streams and oleander bushes, cypress, maple and pine trees. Here also is a 3rd-century BC necropolis, or cemetery, with Doric tombs carved into the rock, including the Tomb of Ptolemeus.

Rhodes Old Town

Rhodes Old Town is not only the capital of the Island of Rhodes, it’s also the capital of the Dodecanese group of Islands and is a beautiful town bursting with history and architecture. The old Town is one of the biggest and best-preserved Medieval settlements in Europe which blends into the modern part of the Town where you will find boutique shops, modern bars and restaurants. A must visit whilst staying on the Island, whether that’s for the day or in the evening when the capital comes to life.
